Clark Beckham and Nick Fra- diani are headed to the finale of Season XIV tonight. The three stood together behind a large “American Idol” logo as host Ryan Seacrest revealed the Top 2 were sepa- rated only by a 0.4 percent margin. He then said Jax’s journey was at an end. The new company, to be called Hack- ensack Meridian Health, will have 25,000 employees and 11 hospitals, stretching from southern Ocean County to Bergen County. And it is the latest in what has been rapid expansion for Me- ridian. The Wall-based hospital system said last month it is moving forward with plans to merge with Raritan Bay Health Services Corp., which has hospitals in Old Bridge and Perth Amboy. Chris Christie unveiled a sweeping federal tax cut plan in New Hampshire Tuesday that some said was a bid to resurrect his fading presidential campaign. Christie supporters called the detailed plan a bold, Reagan-esque move, but some economists said his pro- posal was flawed and would likely end up hurting mid- dle-class earners. The Republican hopeful would reduce the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 25 percent and lower income taxes for all earners. Income taxes would be reduced by more than 11percent for the nation’s wealthiest earners. He also confirmed his support for building the Key- stone Pipeline and proposed income tax breaks for indi- viduals over 62 and under 21. “We must create a flatter, fairer, simpler tax code,” Christie said during a speech Tuesday at the University of New Hampshire at Manchester. He asserted that his measures would accomplish this without growing the federal deficit.
