Don and Merryl Richards werefishing for summer flounder off DealMonday morning when they were vis-ited by a large sea creature.
It was an absolutely magnificent,beautiful day. Then, all of the sudden,we heard this spout sound and we turnaround and there was a whale, saidMerryl Richards, 61, of Livingston.We just stopped fishing and enjoyedthe show.
Richards said the whale breachedthree of four times, each time withhundreds of menhaden, an oily baitfish, in its mouth. She estimates the
whale was bigger than the 33-footboat they were in.Weve traveled to Alaska, Aus-
tralia and Boston and have seen them,and this was as good a show as any,said Richards, who with her husbanddock their boat in the Shark River.

Details of the Assembly Democrats budget blue-print remain sketchy, although Speaker Vincent Prieto,D-Hudson, said he hopes the spending plan and associ-ated tax increases will be approved by the Assemblynext Thursday. The deadline to adopt a budget is June30.
