Soon after his command, the government of Delhi suspended and cancelled the licenses of the two power distributing companies BSES Yamuna Power Ltd and BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd, who supplied power to south and west region of the state. Both the companies are under Anil Ambani led Reliance Infrastructure Ltd (RIL). After such a step, few meeting with the other power distribution companies are in the process and it is assumed to arrive in with a positive result. New power distribution companies are welcomed by the government of the state. It is also heard that the government is happy with the functioning of the Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited and have mentioned them to be a good performer. This crisis sprung up when BRPL did not pay the money that was due for the power supply. NTPC issued a notice to BRPL to pay Rs 270 crore and renew the letter of credit by February 10. They even warned them to pay within the given time of power supply will be snapped in south and west Delhi.

AAP government acted tough with the excess power cut problem after they received about 1000 complaints between January 20 and January 31. After so many complaints Arvind Kejriwal penned down a letter to Lt. Governor concerning the current power failure and also he accused the power regulator’s inefficiency while performing their duty. Delhi’s power secretary, Puneet Goel said during the event of the licenses being revoked that suitable officers will be appointed who will administer the distribution companies and keep the power to be switched on.

Now it is yet to see that with the cancelation of the licenses and appointment of the new power distribution companies, how much light people of Delhi will get after so many power supply changes one after the other.
