Gentileschi was one of the first major Women Artists.

• Gentileschi was a Baroque painter who was greatly influenced by Caravaggio.

• The influence is apparent in her use of dark compositions and dramatic lighting.

• Gentileschi was the daughter of an artist.

• She studied under her father and other artist.

• If not for her father she may have never had a chance to become an artist. It was not thought to be for women.

• Like most art of the time Gentileschi’s paintings dealt with biblical themes.
