Local Fashion. Local Art. Local Causes.
Welcome to Art Meets Fashion 2013 celebrating the best of
Utah fashion, fine art, culinary and performing arts during an
exclusive two night event in downtown Salt lake City benefit-
ing one local organization, The Center for Documentary Ex-
pression and Art. A multi-city event, AMF features runway
shows in venues that support the local artistic community.
AMF also showcases food selections from top area restaurants,
live performances from local talent and is geared toward the
socially conscious, fashion forward resident.
Our goal this year was to bring an artistic showcase only pre-
viously seen in larger cities to the Salt Lake City center. With
over 250 volunteer participants including 102 models each eve-
ning, 10 salons, 9 fashion designers, 9 boutiques, 7 restaurants,
12 performance artists, 10 fine artists, 1 event design company
and their entire team, lighting designers, staff and over 20 ded-
icated AMF core team members that work for months leading
up to the event, AMF celebrates everything that makes a region unique.
Founders of Art Meets Fashion and (a)perture marketing, Heidi M. Gress and Anne Cummings created the event as a premiere community outreach
program. Heidi Gress acts as current executive producer of AMF, while Anne Cummings is on personal hiatus and is currently enrolled in the MSW
program at the University of Utah and recently welcomed the addition of a beautiful baby girl, Cora. She will return to AMF in 2014.
Heidi M. Gress has over a decade of creative execution experience in commercials, print publications, and experiential marketing. She seeks out
the best talent to create fully integrated, thought provoking campaigns. Artistically minded and client focused, she works hand in hand with clients
promoting a collaborative environment. During her time in LA, she worked in commercial production on campaigns such as Target, Budweiser,
Molson Canadian, and BMW films; as well as produced events for AIA, A+D museum, DesignGuide.com, JES Publishing, LA Fashion Week, live
performance showcases, and private cocktail affairs. Before relocating to Salt Lake City she launched Sphere magazine, a lifestyle publication out
of Los Angeles. By merging all aspects of the creative process she has found a comfortable home as partner and co-founder of (a)perture marketing
in Salt Lake City. She brings the energy of a large city to this budding creative market. Recently, she completed photographic projects for Westfield
Malls, Ballet West, Grand America, LuxaChrome and Farasha Boutique.
(a)perture marketing is a full service advertising, marketing and public relations agency, aspiring to create comprehensive and fully integrated mar-
keting campaigns for both commercial and non-profit clients. (a)perture specializes in direct-to-consumer delivery of specific and targeted messages.
Through incorporating strategic elements, designed to work in tandem, (a)perture delivers a systematic approach, working from initial concept to
material execution, ensuring the maximum return on investment. For more information on Art Meets Fashion or (a)perture marketing contact

Heggy Gonzalez is what many would refer to as a renaissance woman. An expert in all things creative, Heggy not only
designs fashion that leaves you breathless, but completes the vision with award winning hair and make-up. Her newest
collection merges her love of Tron, David Bowie and metallics with clean lines, reflective trim, sleek silhouettes. As
Creative and Education Director at the Aveda Institute in Provo, she is responsible for teaching the future professionals
of the beauty industry. She is always pushing the envelope and we are looking forward to her next move.
Tell us about yourself. How did you got started, what
is your background and training?
...after bouncing around California including brief
stint at glamour shots I waskinda lost. I had my best
friend moving to Colorado and I thought why not? I
moved there and worked at a five star resort and then
made my way to Denver where I worked with award
winning hairdresser Charlie Price who helped me take
my editorial styling to the next level. After that I began
my journey with the Aveda Institute Denver, working
for an amazing man namedDale Lemonds. He not only
inspired me to be great but challenged me to always
strive for the next level. I have been Educating now for
over 7 years and I love it. Working for dale has taken
me from Denver to Tucson back to my home state of
Utah. During that time I have been published in inter-
national and national publications, traveled to Europe,
become a color educator for Aveda Corporation and
most recently crowned the RAWartist National Hair-
dresser of the year.
What is your inspiration?
I am inspired by fashion, beauty but most of all my
Future Professionals (students) they challenge me, at
times drive me crazy but most of all they inspire me to
be my best by helping them reach their goals from the
first to last haircut they do while at the Aveda institute.
Where do you see your designs and the hair/make-up
industry in Utah going as a whole?
I live to create, whether the canvas is hair, face or fab-
ric and I constantly am working on the next project. I
am constant working on expanding my skills soI don't
know what's next for me but what ever it is I'm ready.
Most of all I love that I have found an amazing creative
community in Utah!
What do you feel sets you apart in your design style?
I don't think I have a set style, and I think that sets me
apart.

The old saw “clothes maketh the
man” is as much of a truism as ever.
Today, as always, a well-made suit
is not just a crucial business acces-
sory; it also sends a subtle message
that distinguishes the wearer as a
person of discretion, taste and, in
many cases, as someone with power
that intimidates and entices both
men and women. These days men
are more selective about when and
where to dress up or dress down
and suits seem to fit every occa-
sion. Corporate meeting? An Italian
suit. Nightclub? A slim cut blazer.
A day on the coast? White l inen of
course. How does one spot a quality
suit? For starters, hand-sewn button
holes, sleeves and waistbands are
the mark of a superior-quality suit.
From there you can start looking at
ways to stand out a bit, whether it’s
the color, the pattern or an unusual
combination of the two. There are
even subtle details that can convey
a sense of creativity or originality,
such as a jacket with an inside pat-
tern trim.
There are only a few places to ac-
quire a suit of such quality in Utah,
one of these is Perfectly Suited in
Provo Utah. Garth is synonymous
with quality of design and personal
approach. Perfectly Suited carries
both Italian and British fabrics to
create a custom designed suit with
thread counts ranging from 90-150.
If an event arises that needs imme-
diate style, then Garth can outfit
from the ready to wear collection at
the showroom with brands such as
Giovanni Testi, Mattarzi Vomo, and
Giorgio Fiorelli. Custom specialist
will come to your home, office or you
can go to the store location in down-
town Provo. "It doesn't get any bet-
ter. I have purchased suits all over
and no body gives you the time and
attention that Garth does. Hands
down the best out there. If you are
looking for a new suit, go see Garth
and don't bother going anywhere
else."55 N. University Ave. Provo,
