ART FOR PEOPLE LIVING WITH DEMENTIA IN THE COMMUNITY
At the Gallery, with Sally O’Neill
WHAT: Art allows those living with dementia an avenue for self expression and com-
munication with others when these basic skills and others become increasingly difficult.
Art making also has proven therapeutic benefits, improves finger dexterity and can
improve self worth. The workshop environment is a social one; it allows for people
living with dementia to connect with old friends and make new ones over a fun activity.
The hour and a half sessions will include a short tour of the gallery, morning tea and 1-
2 practical activities informally exploring painting, drawing and sculpture. The lessons
will cater for all skill levels. This project has been developed through discussion with
Goulburn Dementia Advisory Services.
WHEN: Tuesday mornings, 1– 22 September, 10.30am-12md
