What is Arsenic?Arsenic is a

natural element that can be found in rocks and soil, water, air, and in plants and animals.

Types of Arsenic Arsenic is

usually part of chemical compounds. These compounds are divided into 2 groups.

Arsenic

Inorganic compounds

Organic compounds

Source of ArsenicThe origin of

groundwater arsenic in Bangladesh is directly related to the arsenic compounds present in soils.

Arsenic can be found in the earth's crust, in deeply drilled wells, and in rocks, soil, air and water.

Arsenic in BangladeshThe serious arsenic

contamination of groundwater in Bangladesh has come out recently as the biggest natural calamity in the world.

The people in 59 out of 64 districts comprising 126,134 km2 of Bangladesh are suffering due to the arsenic contamination in drinking water.

Effects of Arsenic

When arsenic is inhaled due to its presence in airborne particles, the amount absorbed into the blood stream depends on two things how soluble the particular form of arsenic is and how small the particles are.

Remediation of Arsenic

Alternative sources of drinking water.

Use of surface water.Removal of arsenic

by chemical precipitation.

Removal of arsenic by oxidation.

Extraction and distribution of arsenic free groundwater from deep aquifers.

In-situ remediation of arsenic contaminated groundwater.

Development of sewage and waste disposal system.

Implementation of efficient water supply system.

Removal of arsenic from the existing water sources.

Removal of arsenic from water collected from the existing contaminated sources by filtration.

How to Save From ArsenicAcute toxic

inorganic arsenic exposure and arsine gas exposure can rapidly result in death, and there are only a few ways to possibly save the patient's life.
