FOR WORD

This bibliography concerns Manchuria, the all important industrial region ofnortheast China. The area has been important to Chinese history at least sincethe eleventh century, B.C., and to the world since this twentieth century. Muchof the Russo-Japanese War, 1904-05, was fought there; the Japanese practicedcolonization, 1932-45; the "China Incident" of 7 Jul 37 probably precipitatedWWII; the Soviet invasion in 1945 was the last large-scale combat of the war; andManchuria was the marshalling yard for Chinese involvement in the Korean War, 1950-1953. This number presents materials which cover these historically compellingevents. Selection has been made from materials owned by the Morris Swett Library.Inclusion of an item, or ommission, does not imply USAFAS indorsement or sanction

of the compiler's point-of-view.
