BE HERALDS OF THE LORD

“O Lord, you have probed me, you know me...you under-stand my thoughts from afar…Truly you have formed my inmost being; you knit me in my mother’s womb. I give you thanks that I am fearfully, wonderfully made…” (Ps 139:14)

This goes to say, I cannot forget who I am: I am, and will always be, a priceless gift from God. Life should always be considered sacred. To think otherwise would be the gravest of heresies because it would be the greatest of fallacies! My worth, in the eyes of God, does not increase based upon my good works, especially those valued by men, for not even the achievements of the saints make them any more worthy of eternal life. Can the infi-nite be measured? Or value placed on the priceless? The magnitude and the grandeur of every human life cannot be con-tained or measured by metrics such as individual accomplishments or achievements.

Heaven cannot be gained, it can only be defined. And heaven is best defined by the Creator, for its very nature is the Creator’s nature. Heaven is God’s presence, where Love rests and love is free to be unleashed. Today, we celebrate the nativity of John the Baptist, the last of the great prophets who ushered in the Messiah. “What, then, will this child be?” The answer would be made clear in God’s time. John would become the greatest prophet of all time. He would become the herald of the Son of God. We all need an introduction. We all need a cheerleader. John was both herald and cheerleader to the Lord. He in-troduced Him to his very own disciples. He said to them, “Behold, the Lamb of God.” Follow Him. We need to learn from him. We need to imitate him. For what he did, we must do. We too must usher in the Lord in our world. We too must be His cheerleaders and heralds.

What a tremendous responsibility Christians

have in the world today! If we do not sing of His praises, then who will?

Saint John the Baptist help us to evangelize our parish

in the month of July!!!

“Today is a day of great joy for the Diocese of St. Petersburg as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of our canonical establishment and we do so in a most appropriate way by celebrating the Eucharist, a word which means Thanksgiving and the Sacrament which is the sign of unity of our faith,” said Bishop Gregory Parkes, principal celebrant of the Mass.

God Bless our Religious Education in our Parish for the best life!

Nazareth brought to life in our Vacation Bible School! Kids played fun games, made awesome crafts, ate Bible-time snacks, and listened to Mary tell stories

about Jesus as he grew up.
