PROPOSAL:   This project is located on a site away from the downtown and close to a river. Theconcept on which the project was based can be described as a vertebral columnfrom which different spaces were created. The massive stone wall is the represen-tation of the vertebral column and tends to follow the direction of the river. A func-tional division is created by the positioning of the different spaces from either aside or the other of the central wall. 'Public spaces' are placed on the side facingthe river while the private spaces are located on the other side. The connectionwith the river within the public spaces gives the occupants peacefulness.

PROPOSal:  The bui ldi ng on whi ch the int erve nti on occu rs is an old monaste ry with no usenowadays. The program chosen is divided in two parts; housing and artists’ studiosare placed in the perpendicular section while the central body of the buildingbecomes a hotel with a restaurant. The architectural proposal takes part of the s iteby offering a sensible relationship with it. The slope next to the building is used tocreate footbridges that allow people to access the building a different way. Thesefootbridges act as a unifier for the overall building because they are felt all aroundthe building and because they create spaces and elements outside and inside.

PROPOsal:   The richne ss o f th e projec t li es i n th e qu alit y of its exch ange spa ces, the flex ibi lit yof its working spaces and its strong image. The building adapts to the urbancontext by proposing two new remarkable main facades. All facades form a unitywhile allowing variability depending the orientation. On Ste-foy road’s side, adouble envelope can also serve as a showcase for the company’s projects. Theatrium at the center of the building facilitates natural ventilation and the access tonatural light. It’s in the center that meeting spaces for employees are found. Finally, there is a rooftop terrace accessible to workers.

PROposal:   The form al a spe ct of t he p roje ct aris es f rom the des ire to m ake the fri edr ichspl atzmore dynamic (the friedrichsplatz is the site of the project). The need for a lightand temporary construction inspired the development of a key principle: t he unfol-ding. The principle is concretized in the series of scissor structures. The variationof joints’ positions creates the fluid evolving shape that adjusts to the differentspaces needed underneath. The overall shape appears due t o the induced tensionproduced by the winch on the steel cables that goes across the aluminium tubularstructure. In general, the project offers many unique spaces promoting exchangesbetween people while offering new viewpoints of the place.

goal: Propose a new information and communication center for the Documenta (temporary art ewill serve as a meeting point for visitors. It must be possible to dismantle and reuse the

PROPOSal :   The desi gn o f th e ob ject /displa y i s in spired b y th e co ntex t of the city of DaNang in order to create a rich and relevant meaning fo the inhabitants ofthe city and for those who are just passing by. The project look refers to thesurrounding moutains, the bridge and the airport (the resemblance withairplane wings). The airport is one of the destination of the passersby. Theground contact only lies at the center of the street in order to emphasizelightness and minimize the footprint. A billboard is integrated and percei-vable on both sides so that messages and ads can be seen by travellers.

PROPOSal :   The Hai tian cont ext requ ires stron g cons truc tions, bioclim atic effi cien cyand flexible organisation. Therefore, the proposition consists of the use ofhigh performance concrete provided by Lafarge. The efficiency of the mate-rial allows thin components which remain resistant. Regarding the climateconstraints, we opted for many perforations, the chimney effect and sha-ding devices in order to produce a lot of shadow. Different types of habitatswere developped (1, 2 and 3 stories) with the same principles so as tomaximize flexibility.

PROPOSAL: Considering the magnitude of the space required to insure a proper operation of thefactory, it was necessary from the start to take position concerning the kind of struc-ture to use. The space frame appeared to be a very good option. The use of cables anda heavy structure permit to reach even longer span and in this case the structure evenbecomes a remarkable element of the landscape and therefore reinforce the factory’simage. The flows are an efficient answer to the needs of the factory by ensuring a goodmovement of the material from its arrival, through its transformation and up to itsdeparture. The administration and break areas are located outside the factory and areseparated from it by a vegetation filter because of the pollution inherent to the factory.

PROPOSAL:   The pla nne d neighborho od is loca ted near the intersect ion of Lebo urgn euf bou le-vard and Pierre-Bertrand in a place where recent constructions generate huge par-king lots and low quality urban spaces. The proposal is in direct relation with thesignificant green space at the center of the area that is currently threatened. Theproject is composed of numerous environmental strategies such as flood plains, abuffer zone of at least 300m between houses and the highway t hat ensure the airquality for residents. Three types of streets have been developed in order to meetthe variety of residential preferences of the future inhabitants.

goal: Develop a new residential neighborhood in Lebourgneuf that takes into account the imchange and residential preferences of the futur inhabitants.

PROPOSal :   The desi gn of the neighbo rhood’s heart was guided by the desi re to enjoy theproximity of the preserved green space. The main square (Town square) is facingthe nature reserve and offers an entrance to it. Higher density housing is locatednear the parc so as the institutions and the new shops in order to benefit to moreresidents. The new neighborhood is also a pleasant experience for pedestrians andcyclists because of the numerous sidewalks and cycleways.

PROPOSal :   The l oca tio n of the proj ect, bas ed o n an ana lysi s of the d iffer ent f low s of peop le in the c ity,is right between 2 of the 3 most popular destinations within Quebec (Université Laval andLaurier boulevard where the shopping centers, government offices and the hospital are).

The proj ect then beco mes a junc tio n betw een the 2 sect ors and redef ines the exis tingmeans of transportation by providing spaces promoting public transport and active trans-portation (bike and walk). In the more intagible virtual sphere, the project creates new rela-tions between the University and the shopping mall by creating spaces encouragingexchange, dissemination and development of new ideas. The proposed spaces are nume-rous: Conference rooms, coffee shop, coworking, exhibition room, dynamic displays, tramand bus stop, sheltered bicycle racks.

goal: Design an hybrid space encouraging physical transitions (means of transportation) atransitions (of ideas) in the city of Quebec.

PROJECT CONTEXT: Collaborative work within PB+Co

PROPOSal :   The project actu ali zes t he paradigm shi fts that came with the revo lut ion bycreating serving spaces housing  the development of values that inspiredthe revolution (Democracy, solidarity, dignity, transparency). The existingmonument, symbol of authority, is replaced by a place that gives peoplethe possibility to have a direct action on its history. The place is given backto the people because the center of the urban corridor becomes an openpublic space. Meanwhile, the project frees itself and destabilizes the enfor-ced authority with its misalignment.
