Greetings all! As we creep inexorably towards the summer months, now is the time to get those last few weekends in on the water and make the most of what is left of the glorious spring weather.

We found a thousand ways to do that at the Dubai International Boat Show last month, though it would be impossible to feature them all in one magazine. However, you can still see a few of our favourite finds on our yacht and boat pages. Our cover story, for example, is a most beautiful superyacht we were told about by the guys from Lurssen at DIBS that is, in fact, available for charter from Moran Yachts – a snip at EUR1.2 million a week!

The stunning Boston Whaler 420 Outrage in our boats section was actually present at the show, as was the Axopar 37 also featured on those pages. Both are stunning and luxurious boats that take pleasure cruising to whole new level.

Our Smart Charter section also features a yacht we came across at DIBS – the unique Desert Rose party/event cruiser, which boasts quirky design and impressive features.

And in final news, once again we returned to the impressive Yas Marina Circuit to put the new Porsche 911 Carrera S through its paces. The new 911 is now available with rear-axle steering, which has a mind-blowing effect on the car’s cornering.

Once again, a busy couple of months here at Hadag, but we’re still enjoying it every step of the way. We hope you are too…

IT’s noT the size or luxury of the Moonstone, developed in cooperation with the renowned Van Geest Design studio, that makes it stand out – there are hundreds of similarly-sized luxury megayachts out there. The defining difference between Moonstone and all other yachts is her uniquely conceived faceted hull sides.

The elegant lines and faceted hull suggest a hypnotic glamour, just as one sees in the multiple surfaces of a finely cut precious stone. The multi-angled surface shapes of the hull sides reflect the water and play off sunlight. The unique ‘twinkle effect’ provides a visual link from Moonstone to the sky and the sea. This striking ‘facet’ motif repeats in many other areas of the yacht and is used in conjunction with special lighting effects.

The effect is created by Telemoy Advanced Lighting Design. Custom hull panels triggered by 300 individually dimmable white triangles per hull side create unlimited lighting possibilities. At night, these lights generate a unique shimmering twinkling effect.

The hull light panels have been designed to be self-sufficient with the use of 70 square meters standard solar panels on top

of the superstructure. A day of sunlight could potentially allow the dimming and illuminating light panels to run for an estimated three hours.

Able to accommodate up to 14 guests in one owner’s suite, four double guest suites, and two twin guest suites, as well as 29 crew, the Moonstone boasts a number of attractive features, including cinema, spa/gym, wellness area, touch and go helipad, and sky deck lounge with 360 degree panoramic views.

partnership with Philippe Briand. Designed to accommodate 24 guests in extreme luxury, the main deck features a swimming pool with a glass floor. The lowest deck features a beach club, cinema, gym and spa at sea level and sports a skylight from which one can view the underside of the swimming pool overhead. When the beach club door is closed there is no exterior access to the yacht, thus ensuring 100% security.

Gulf Craft sold AED80 million (USD22 million) worth of luxury yachts and leisure boats across its range at this year’s Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS), the Emirates-based builder revealed last month.Gulf Craft’s announcement follows the successful unveiling of four exceptional yachts – two of which were superyachts – across its expanding portfolio.Gulf Craft’s global premieres at DIBS included the youngest tri-deck Majesty 110, the opulent Majesty 90, and the oceangoing Nomad 55. The Oryx 43 fly-bridge was also debuted for the first time in the country.“Our success at this year’s Dubai International Boat Show is testimony to the exhibition’s global and regional prominence as one of the world’s leading lifestyle events for the leisure marine industry,” said CEO Erwin Bamps.

extreMe Sailing SerieS KiCKS oFF in MuSCatThe Extreme Sailing Series brought catamaran racing on foils to life with the provision of data from new sensors mounted on the foils of the GC32. The new boat sensors measure the height of the boats above the water as they fly along on the Stadium Racing course. The data secured from the sensors are quickly processed through SAP Sailing Analytics, providing real-time data directly to the teams enabling them to get better insights and modify strategy throughout the race.The 2016 Extreme Sailing Series season started on Wednesday, March 16 in Muscat, when eight teams of the world’s finest sailors, from 14 different nations, return to the stunning Al Mouj Golf Course in the heat of Oman for four days of intense battle.

A HUGE ARRAY of global and regional premieres, hundreds of millions of dollars worth of sales, and a whole new level of interactivity for visitors, from food trucks and gourmet dining courts to on-water sailing, diving and personal water craft experiences, the Dubai International Boat Show took the experience to a whole new level for 2016. In addition to the experiences, hundreds of suppliers from across the marine industry from around were displayed, and there were also free forums for Marine Talks taking place each day, with panels of experts discussing issues affecting the industry.All in all, a huge success! The Owner pushed Lürssen to test its own boundaries engineering-wise and to create a yacht ahead of its time, while also being the ultimate entertainment vessel afloat for welcoming friends and family.Kismet was designed by two leading names in contemporary design – Espen Oeino International for the exterior and Reymond Langton Design for the interior. This is just one of the elements making Kismet’s sea keeping under all circumstances – including in heavy seas – very comfortable.The virtual elimination of noise and vibration exceeded the Owner’s expectations while a heat recovery system uses the heat loss of the generators for heating the pool and Jacuzzi water, thus saving energy.

InteriorThe brief given for the overall style of the yacht was to be “Champagne & Caviar”, with the intention that the yacht should be a perfect venue for elaborate parties and entertainment of friends, whilst also being a luxurious but comfortable family retreat.The main feature that sets Kismet apart is the impressive, double-height entertainment area that spans the aft section of the Main and Upper decks. This dramatic area is emphasized by architecture that is a rich, contemporary interpretation of Art Deco themes, characterized in the sweeping staircase that unites the two decks, framed uniquely by two full-height video walls, with a formal reception and lounge area leading to a comfortable sports clubroom that converts into a cinema on the Main deck, whilst a more relaxed saloon and dining room feature on the Upper Deck. Two fireplaces and a grand piano allow for different moods and climates.On the Bridge deck, the practicality of the layout is again shown by a more informal Beach Club lounge that can be transformed into a disco nightclub, with a large sports bar that opens out onto the expansive aft deck that doubles as a perfect dance floor.In the Upper Deck Owner’s Suite a relaxing ambience is introduced with a subtle romantic theme inspired by Coco Chanel that is expressed in the Lalique style lighting adorning the mullions that frame the full-height windows, the dramatic fireplace surround at the foot of the bed, and the striking stone pillars and intricate inlays in the spacious bathrooms.The inclusion of a comfortable office and private foredeck lounging area allows the Owner’s Suite to be a self-contained, secluded retreat at the heart of the yacht.A Persian influence is found on the Lower Deck, with a fully featured Spa, Beauty Salon and Gym, with hand-crafted mosaic artworks in the bathrooms that reflect the individual character of each suite, carved stone artworks, exquisite bespoke furniture perfectly tailored to each room, embossed leather and specially commissioned artworks found throughout.

مؤّخرة الّسرير، واألعمدة الحجرّية المدهشة مع الّتطعيم الّرائع تجعل من الحّمام الوسيع مشهدًا استثنائّيًا.

هذا ويتمّيز جناح المالك أيضًا بوجود مكتب مريح مع الونج خاص صغير من جهة المقّدمة مّما يجعل من الجناح مساحة

خاّصة مستقّلة بذاتها، مالذ منعزل في قلب اليخت المهيب.في الّطابق الّسفلي نجد لمسات فارسّية، مع سبا مجّهز بالكامل، صالون تجميل، وغرفة نادي رّياضي، وفي الحّمام

موزاييك يدوّي يزّين المكان يعكس فرادة كّل جناح، منحوتات حجرّية، مفروشات رائعة مصّممة تحت الّطلب

تتناسب بامتياز مع كّل غرفة، الجلود واألعمال الفنّية في كّل مكان.

Exterior:Considerable time was spent working out how exterior spaces were likely to be used during a week’s cruise and there are many spaces in which to ‘hang out’ or entertain, already mentioned. For example casual seating in the form of fixed furniture is provided aft of the ‘winter garden’ enclosure to take advantage of the spectacular view along the side decks or aft over the aft deck. A full screen cinema can be set up on the helideck above.For designer Espen Oeino the ‘piece de resistance’ of the yacht is the top deck, its informal al fresco dining area next to the BBQ, supported by a fully-operational pantry, all behind protective glass doors giving access to the aforementioned forward part with swimming pool and Jacuzzi, forward-facing pilot seats and a rock garden, flanked by showers featuring beautiful mosaics. The private sunbathing area is accessible only via a spiral staircase with the mast structure leading to it. “Here the world can be contemplated from behind locked doors, and this may be my favourite spot on the yacht!”

منطّقة الّتشّمس الخاّصة يتّم الوصول إليها من خالل درخ لولبّي موصول بهيكل الّصاري. “هنا، يمكن تأّمل العالم

من خلف األبواب الموصدة، وقد تكون هذه هي الّنقطة المفّضلة لدّي على متن هذا اليخت!”.

aunched in May 2015 at the Sunreef Yachts shipyard in Gdansk, the Blue Belly is the 12th unit from the 70 Sunreef Power line introduced and designed by famous sailor Laurent Bourgnon in 2008, and the first 70ft power catamaran from Sunreef with a fully open saloon.The idea of having a 70 Sunreef Power by the Owners came in 2014, straight after the launch of their first yacht, the 60 Sunreef Power Ocean’s 11. The stunning 60 footer inspired a desire for a yacht of a bigger size and with an appreciation for luxury design and spending indulgent time aboard, the 70ft catamaran seemed to be the best option for such discerning clients.

Inspired by NatureTaking into account the client`s requirements, Sunreef Yachts’ designers opened the living area on the main deck and eliminated the interior navigation station in the saloon. In this way, an incredible amount of living space combined with the lounging and dining area was achieved. As Blue Belly is dedicated to short cruises, the yacht is equipped with the exterior helm station on the flybridge. Straight from the saloon is direct access to the master suite located at the front of the yacht. Following

her predecessor 1 Life, launched in 2014, Blue Belly’s master cabin features panoramic views and has a spectacular magic glass panel separating the his-and-hers bathroom from the sleeping area. The array of colours chosen for Blue Belly’s upholstery comprises a variety of pale browns and greys, inspired by the warm rich tones of the desert sands and rocks, accompanied by navy blue and white nautical elements. This palette combination gives a special beach house effect and exquisite look to the space.

Interior designer Orna Weitz, from BROSH ALON design office, carefully chose the perfect assortment of fabrics, predominantly flax and Italian leather with ideal textures that emulate the ultimate luxury summer apartment. All cabins are touched with oak veneer and corian surfaces. Through intense study of the owners’ preferences the designer has achieved an ideal place to live and spend time mixed with natural and luxury finishes.

أجل المفروشات على متن بلو بيلي من تشكيلة من البّني والّرمادي الفاتح المستوحيان من ألوان رمال الّصحراء والّصخور الّدافئة والغنّية، بالإلضافة إلى األبيض واألزرق اللذين ال بّد منهما

في عالم البحار. يعطي هذا المزيج الممّيز من األلوان تأثير يحاكي منزل الّشاطئ بإطاللته الّرائعة.

Made for Pleasure Blue Belly can easily accommodate in comfortable conditions up to 10 guests in two VIP cabins and one standard cabin and a master suite. The galley with the separate exit from aft is located in the portside hull. Each cabin has its own bathroom and storage space. Crew cabins are located in the forepeaks. The layout of the yacht was prepared to ensure the Owners maximum privacy and separate quarters from the crew. Similarly to 1 Life, Blue Belly is equipped with a hydraulic platform placed at the aft. The lowering function ensures direct and easy launching of the jetski into the water. The cockpit and the flybridge comprise sunbathing mattresses, adjustable tables and a grill to make spending time aboard an even bigger pleasure.With expansive spaces, luxurious amenities and plenty of lounging and dining spaces, the Blue Belly is the ideal choice for overnight pleasure cruises and entertaining guests.

As for the living space, she has six VIP cabins on the main deck and eight cabins on the lower deck, in addition to 18 bathrooms, a large saloon and dining area. A kitchen, dry pantry and laundry cater to every single need of the guests.

THE AxoPAR 37 is the latest offering from the Finnish brand, having enjoyed its world premiere at Boot Dusseldorf and its regional debut at DIBS2016. What initially caught our eye about these boats when we saw them at DIBS was the rather unconventional shape and design, as well as the innovative features and excellent build quality.

With strong family resemblances to the highly successful Axopar 28, the new Axopar 37 is a natural and logical evolution of the range, based upon Axopar’s proven and modular design and build concept of lightweight, fun, fuel-efficient and exhilarating boats to drive.

The hull is available in a range of options, including the open-air T-Top and the Cabin that you see on these pages, as well as a Sun-Top version with extended GRP roof and an integrated sliding canvas roof for even more protection from the elements, and an Aft Cabin version offering ample living and overnight accommodation for four persons, making it a very versatile platform.

For the T-Top and Sun Top centre console versions the console has been widened to accommodate a central steering position, and a larger and more satisfactory table in the aft cockpit offers everyone on board the chance to sit down together and socialise, drink and dine in comfort.

With a deck layout and internal accommodation option for every type of boating and personal lifestyle requirement, the extra 2.60m length afforded by the new 37 has given rise to more options, more functionality and greater living space all round. All Axopar 37 models now benefit from increased seating provision up from five spaces to seven, and all models have a larger, double-berth fore-cabin with toilet, and better integrated internal storage, cupboards and an additional internal seat.

Cruising range possibilities are now in the region of 300nm, and innovative Kitchen and Wet Bar package options mean freedom for owners to spend more time entertaining friends and family in greater comfort, and for longer periods of time than ever before.

A low resistance, narrow-entry, twin-stepped ‘Sharp Entry’ hull with low centre of gravity means there’s a more mature and beefier note to the handling and high-speed performance of up to 50 knots is achievable in light-weight T-Top configuration, with the twin Mercury Verado 350 XL engine package.

Best of all though is the performance versatility. Practical cruising speeds between 25 and 35 knots are available, with the most fuel-efficient speed estimated at 28 knots allowing for an extended cruising range capability of 330nm.

WE WERE introduced to the Boston Whaler 420 Outrage at the Dubai International Boat Show, and we were instantly impressed. A centre console layout with big cabin space and an optional upper helm station, the 420 Outrage is as close as you can get to a cabin cruiser whilst still having that great open air experience.

Boston Whaler’s USP is their patented foam-filled double-hull, which makes them practically unsinkable. Due to the size of the 420, it weighs in at over 12 tonnes, making it a weighty hull that is stable and comfortable for cruising. You can add to the stability with the optional Seakeeper technology, which is an impressive spinning gyroscopic electronic stabilizer that counteracts the pitch and roll of the waves.

Despite the weight, the 420 is no slouch, with propulsion coming courtesy of a choice of quad Mercury 300 or 350 Verado joystick-enabled engines, giving a total output of either 1200 or 1400hp respectively.

Not only does this provide impressive speed and performance, but also incredible ease of manoeuvring when docking. The four engines can be simultaneously controlled by simple inputs on the joystick, and work together for easy positioning of the boat.

This impressive system also creates another feature, the Skyhook, which at the push of a button will hold the boat in position on the water, using the four propellers to work against the tide and keep the boat in one spot. And then there’s

the autopilot, which speaks for itself.As for on-board amenities, the 420

Outrage boasts everything you’d expect from a large family fishing cruiser, such as plenty of seating with versatile changing configurations allowing for more seating and picnic options, or more sunloungers, depending on requirements. There is also on-deck galley area with sink, fifty-gallon livewell and grill.

In the interior cabin, there’s a refrigerator, freezer and microwave, as well as innovative storage cabinets for cutlery and crockery. The cabin is very spacious, with over six feet of headroom throughout, a large seating area with expandable picnic table, and a bathroom with toilet and shower. The seating area also converts into a large berth for overnight trips.

Air-conditioning is available both inside the cabin and through vents at the main helm, which is a real bonus for owners here in the Gulf !

1,100 sailors, 70 entrants, four days of regattas... the 2016 edition of the now famous Antilles regatta ended on 16 April, with the victory of Proteus, a 72-foot American maxi-yacht.

RICHARD MILLE CONGRATULATES THE MAXI-YACHT VICTOR

Once again this year, the event delivered above and beyond expectations. The most prestigious teams in sailing met in the bay of Gustavia to compete in the tropics on a most exceptional body of water. In the end, it was Proteus, belonging to the American, George Sakellaris, and skippered by Stu Bannatyne, that finished first among the Maxi Yachts of the Voiles de St. Barth’s 7th edition. The crew received an RM 60-01 Chronograph Flyback Regatta.

For this 7th edition of the Voiles de St Barth, no less than 21 different courses were offered, showcasing 9 classes of sailboats from 24 to 100 feet in length. While capricious winds played havoc with the sailors’ nerves throughout the week, the last day proved to be the determining contest, and the final miles of the race were taut with suspense.

Neck and neck for first place in the Maxi 1 category were the two Maxi 72 contestants of the fleet, Proteus and Momo. In fact, the two had equal points at the start of the last leg, until the latter boat got caught in an air pocket. The crew, skippered by Stu Bannatyne, seized this opportunity to catch up with their rival, passing her only a few metres from the finish line.

في نسخته الّسابعة تّم تقديم ما ال يقّل عن 21 دورة لتسعة أنواع من القوارب الّشراعّية بأطوال مختلفة تتراوح

بين 24 إلى 100 قدم. وبينما عاثت الّرياح المتقّلبة بأعصاب البّحارة طوال األسبوع، كان اليوم األخير شاهدًا على الّنهاية

حيث كانت االميال األخيرة من الّسباق مشدودة من فرط اإلثارة.

في فئة ماكسي 1 كانت المنافسة شديدة بين قاربي ماكسي 72، بروتوس و مومو. في الحقيقة، حاز اإلثنين

على نقاط متساوية عند بداية المحّطة األخيرة، إلى أن علق القارب األخير في جيب هوائّي. استغّل الفريق تحت قيادة

ستو باناتاين الفرصة لّلحاق بمنافسه وتخّطيه ببعض األمتار فقط.

As I WAIT Around the Paul Smith studio in Paris’ 3rd arrondissement it strikes me that his collections are very sophisticated as the mannequins stand strong in a riot of colour and tailored prestige. Personal memorabilia hang around the elegant, high ceiling space, including slightly sepia tinted photos of Paul and Pauline (his wife and muse) that date back a few decades. I hear him closing up the conversation with an generous in tone, offering many thanks and giving her a hug.

The first thing you need to know about Paul Smith and the legacy that surrounds him is that it all stems from cycling. Not a readily obvious connection to fashion, but the former gave way to the latter through a blessing in disguise.

“I received a bicycle for my birthday when I was 12 from my parents, and then I got into racing and my dream was to do that for a living. I had a crash when I was 17, broke lots of bones and ended up in hospital for three months. When I came out of hospital, a couple of the lads I had met there kept in touch and one of them I ended up meeting in a pub in my hometown of Nottingham which was where the art students went. I got to know other people at the pub too, architecture, fine art and photography students and I eventually helped one of them open up a little clothes shop - doing the windows, running things - I was only 18. Eventually I met Pauline who became my girlfriend and then wife and that was the main turning point because she studied fashion at the Royal College of Art during those days when David Hockney was there. It was interesting because at that time they taught you how to make couture - how to actually make clothes. In the evenings Pauline used to show me how to cut a pattern, how to make a shirt. I went to a night school for tailoring, it was all very artisan, very real and that’s why we have such an important suit and tailoring business for both men and women now,” he says.

حيث تقف العارضات وسط عاصفة من األلوان والخياطة المهيبة. تذكارات شخصّية معّلقة على حائط أنيق ذو سقف عال من بينها صور بول سميث وبولين )زوجته وملهمته( المائلة إلى البّني والتي تعود إلى عقود مضت.

أسمعه ينهي حواره بنبرة لطيفة وهو يقّدم شكره.

أّول ما يجب ان تعرفه عن بول سميث وتاريخه الّطويل الذي يحيط بوجوده أّنه كّله نابع من ركوب الّدّراجة! ليست الّصلة األكثر بديهّية مع عالم الموضة،

ولكن األمور تطّورت من شيء آلخر كنعمة متخفّية وراء قناع.

“لقد تلّقيت دّراجة كهدّية من والدّي في عيد ميالدي عندما كنت في الّثانية عشرة، ثّم ظهر اهتمامي بالّتسابق وأصبح حلمي أن يكون هذا ما أقوم به

في الحياة. حصل معي حادث عندما كنت في الّسابعة عشرة، كسرت الكثير من العظام وبقيت طريح الفراش في المستشفى لمّدة ثالثة شهور. عندما

خرجت بقيت على اتصال ببعض الّشبان الذين تعّرفت عليهم في المستشفى وصادف أن قابلت أحدهم في حانة في مسقط رأسي نوتنغهام وهو المكان الذي يجتمع فيه طالب الفنون. عرفت أناسًا آخرين في الحانة أيضًا، مهندسون، طالب الفنون الجميلة والّتصوير، وانتهى بي المطاف بمساعدة أحدهم على افتتاح متجر صغير للمالبس - أجّهز الواجهات، اإلدارة - كنت في الثامنة عشرة

فقط. ثّم التقيت ببولين وأصبحت صديقتي ثّم زوجتي وهنا تقبع نقطة الّتحّول في حياتي، فهي قد درست الموضة في الجامعة الملكّية للفنون

عندما كان ديفيد هوكني هناك. إّنه لشيء مثير لالهتمام بالفعل ففي تلك األّيام كانوا ييعلمونك كيف تصنع المالبس. في المساء كانت بولين تريني

كيف تقص القماش لتصنع قميصًا. بدأت دروسّا ليلّية في الخياطة، كان حرفّيًا للغاية وحقيقّيًا، ولهذا الّسبب نمتلك اليوم مشروعًا مهمًا للخياطة للّرجال

والّنساء”.

The brand today is a mix of classic tailoring with punchy cuts that creates dynamic and vivid pieces that still pay homage to the British gentry.

It later became a story of Paul and Pauline, grafting together to produce the brand that it has become today with many ideas and so much energy between them. Paul’s spontaneity is palpable – his style alone confirms this. He’s wearing blue pinstripe trousers and a jacket with a denim shirt on the inside, and then neon coloured trainers, like a happy accident, much like his first foray into fashion.

One day Pauline had said, “Well why don’t you open up a little shop of your own? You’ve got so many ideas and so much energy.” And with all but around £600 Paul eventually found a three by three metre shop in Nottingham.

Paul proved his design mettle and began freelancing as a designer, working as a stylist, building himself from the ground up. The little shop soon procured big recognition. “People from Leicester and beyond found out that we had things you couldn’t find anywhere else,” he recalls. The shop’s “different, odd, and unusual” status is what Paul claims is the reason for his being where he is today. It just caught on in the right way.

The preeminent brand today is a mix of classic tailoring with punchy cuts for both men and women. Historically, the British suit is lauded the world over – men look to Paul Smith for style notes on heritage and tradition and perhaps with that comes an unavoidable ‘stiff upper lip’ notion too. But Paul has revolutionised what could have been stuffy dressing into dynamic and vivid pieces that still pay homage to the British gentry.

This puts into question the disparity between High Fashion and Ready-To-Wear. Paul Smith is famously wearable and down-to-earth, like the man himself. “I think my background has played a part, even with this posh collection around us, there’s the sweater that will go with 20 different bottoms, there’s trousers that go with 20 different tops.”

Having left school at 15 and had a business up and running by the time he was in his early twenties, Paul’s got grit, but soft grit. He asks me, as we draw to a close, what my schedule has been like during Fashion Week. I tell him the usual deadline, sleep deprivation story. “Well don’t have a nervous breakdown, it’s not worth it darling. Life’s too short,” he says. “You live it well, don’t you?” I say, and he quietly nods with a small smile.

األمر ال يستحّق يا عزيزي. الحياة قصيرة جّدًا” فقلت “أنت تعيش الحياة جّيدًا؟” وبصمت أومأ برأسه وابتسم.

What we likedThe grand lobby with its high ceilings, ornately

carved chandeliers, warm wooden furnishings and flood of sunlight is an impressive welcome. “Bonjour” is the greeting from the staff — one of many French flavours you’ll experience during the stay.

Out of the 262 rooms, there are various Prestige Suites and individually themed Opera Suites along with one Royal suite. Each 120sqm Opera Suite has diverse décor to match its theme, along with a private terrace overlooking panoramic scenery and an infinity pool.

I was awestruck as soon as I set foot into the Moroccan Suite. Done up in a chic Marrakech style, the kaleidoscope of colours identifies with the rich culture of Morocco. Every detail from the floor to the ceiling is truly stunning. Given the private element of the room, it is perfect for those wanting to unwind from the daily grind without a care in the world.

PUlAU GAYA, or Gaya Island, lies just off of the Malaysian coast of Borneo, in South East Asia. The island is one of five that make up the 5,000-hectare Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park in Malaysia, which is two-thirds protected ocean. As such, the beaches, ocean and tropical forest in the area is some of the most beautiful and unspoilt in the world.

Pulau Gaya itself covers an area of fifteen square kilometres, and in addition to the stunning beaches and ocean, it also boasts 20km of hiking trails that criss-cross the island’s protected jungle, many on raised walkways that let you hike way up close to the jungle’s canopy. For our Middle Eastern recipe this month, we visit the kitchen of Chef , from the Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri Hotel, Abu Dhabi, for a delicious Moroccan spiced baked fish dish.

IngredientsCharmoula1x large garlic clove, crushed with 2tsp of salt until smooth1½ tsp ground cumin seed2 tsp sweet paprika2 tsp coarsely chopped Italian flat-leaf parsley2 tsp coarsely chopped fresh coriander leaves¼ tsp crushed hot red-pepper flakes, seeds removed2 tsp fresh lemon juice2 tsp fruity olive oil

Fish and Vegetables4x thick lean fish fillets or slices, about 8oz each: monkfish, red snapper, sea bass, tilefish or other ocean fish1x carrot, sliced thin1lb red, ripe tomatoes, cored and sliced thin2x small green bell peppers, cored, seeded and sliced thin1x small green or red hot pepper, cored, seeded, sliced thin2tsp Sea salt and pepper2x wedges of preserved lemons, rinsed and drained, pulp discarded, peel sliced thin2tsp Coarsely chopped Italian flat-leaf parsley Sprigs of fresh coriander for garnish

Directions:Prepare the charmoula a day in advance. Blend the garlic, spices, herbs, and pepper flakes.

Add the lemon juice and olive oil, and blend until smooth. Slowly heat mixture in a small saucepan, stirring, until hot and aromatic, do not boil. Let cool, then divide mixture in half.

Rinse the fish, and pat it dry with paper towels. Rub one portion of the spice mixture into the fish and let it stand at least one hour or overnight preferably. Add ½ a cup of hot water to the remaining spice mixture, cover, and refrigerate separately (The recipe can be prepared to this point a day ahead).

About 1½ hours before serving, preheat oven to 300 degrees. Spread two tablespoons of the charmoula over the bottom of a shallow baking dish. Scatter the carrots on the bottom and sprinkle with a little charmoula. Add half the tomatoes, bell peppers, and chilli pepper, sprinkle with a little charmoula. Lay the fish over the vegetables and cover with the preserved lemon peel and the remaining tomatoes and peppers in a decorative pattern. Spread the remaining charmoula over all. Cover tightly and bake for 45 minutes.

Once done, pour off the liquid from the fish into a small saucepan. Bring it to a boil over moderately high heat, and reduce to a ½ cup of thick liquid. Pour it back over the fish.

Raise the oven temperature to 500 degrees. Uncover the baking dish, baste with the pan juices, and bake in the top third of the oven for 10 minutes, or until a nice crust has formed over the vegetables. Sprinkle with parsley and garnish with coriander. Serve warm.

يغسل الّسمك وينّشف بورق المطبخ. يفرك الّسمك بالقسم األّول من خليط األعشاب والبهارات ويترك لمّدة ساعة على األقل )يفّضل نقع الّسمك بالخليط خالل الّليل(. يضاف نصف كوب من الماء الحار إلى الجزء الّثاني

من الخليط، يغّطى، ويترك في الّثالجة.

قبل ساعة ونصف من الّتقديم، يحّمى الفرن على درجة حرارة 300. يتّم فرد ملعقتي طعام من صوص الشارموال فوق صينّية الخبز. تفرد قطع الجزر في الّصينّية مع القليل من الّصوص فوقها. يضاف نصف كّمّية الّطماطم، الفلفل األخضر الحلو، والفلفل الحار ويرش فوقها القليل من الّصوص أيضًا. توضع قطع الّسمك

فوق الخضار وتغّطى بشرائح الّليمون الرفيعة وباقي الّطماطم والفلفل ثّم تتّوج بالكّمّية المتبّقية من صوص الشارموال ثّم تغّطى بورق األلومينيوم بإحكام وتخبز لمّدة 45 دقيقة.

عند انتهاء الخبز، ينقل الّسائل من الّصينّية إلى قدر صغير. يغلى الّسائل الناتج عن خبز الّسمك حّتى يتخّثر إلى ما ال يزيد على نصف كوب من الّسائل الّسميك والذي يتّم سكبه فوق الّسمك.

ترفع درجة حرارة الفرن إلى 500. ينزع غطاء األلومينيوم عن الّسمك ويخبز في الجزء العلوي من الفرن لمّدة عشرة دقائق أو إلى أن تتشّكل طبقة مقرمشة على الخضار التي تغّطي الّسمك. يرش الّطبق بالبقدونس

المفروم ويزّين بعروق الكزبرا الخضراء. يقّدم دافىء.

Directions:Chop the herbs and mix together. Mix the

marinade ingredients together. Put a banana leaf on a tray and smear with margarine. Spread some of the marinade on the banana leaf. Put the whole seabass on the banana leaf. Spread some more of the marinade on the top of and inside the fish. Sprinkle the herbs on top of the fish, and spread margarine on top. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180-200°C for 25 minutes. Serve with steamed broccoli and fried shallots, with some seafood sauce and tamarind sauce drizzled on top.

سيلسيوس لمدة 25 دقيقة. تقّدم مع بروكولي مسلوق على البخار وبصل شالوت مقلي مع رشة صغيرة من

صوص ثمار البحر وصوص الّتمر الهندّي.

AT FIRsT glance, there is very little difference to the new 911. There have been slight tweaks to the front air scoops, and new automatic cooling flaps, but that’s about it.

However, despite the lack of visual changes, don’t for a second think that it’s the same as the previous model. There have been three major changes to the 911 Carreras that have made a real difference in terms of performance.

On the previous range, all models except for the 911 Turbos were powered by naturally-aspirated 3.4 and 3.8 litre flat-six boxer engines. Now, the entire range is turbo-charged, with the Carrera and Carrera S models boasting a smaller twin-turbo 3.0 litre engine that nevertheless puts out about 20hp more in both engines that their predecessors, with 365bhp on the Carrera, and 414bhp on the Carrera S. The BIG boost, however, comes in the torque, with the new models boasting an additional 60Nm each, with 450Nm on the Carrera, and 500Nm on the Carrera S.

With the Sports Chrono package, this equates to a 0-100km/h time of 4.2 seconds for the Carrera, and 3.9 for the Carrera S, which makes it the first Carrera model to break the sub-four second barrier.

The next major revolution on the new 911s is the introduction of rear-axle steering as an option. This technology was previously only seen on the 911 GT3 and Turbo, and the mighty 918.

The rear-axle steering works by actually turning the wheels a couple of degrees. At low speeds, it turns in the opposite direction of the front wheels to improve the turning circle by effectively shortening the wheelbase. At high speeds, it turns in the same direction as the front wheels to effectively lengthen the wheelbase and improve traction and stability in the corners.

The effect is incredible. In an exercise where we drove 911s with and without the system at track speeds, the rear-axle steering makes a massive difference. You have to drive each car differently, as the system allows you to turn into a corner so much more aggressively, and lay down the power a lot more on the exit, making for massively quicker cornering. It’s hugely impressive.

The last major change over the previous models is the introduction of the rotary ring drive mode selector with the Sports Chrono Package. From this you can select the ‘Normal’, ‘Sport’ and ‘Sport Plus’ settings we know from previous models. However, what it also features is the ‘Sport Response Button’, which came to be known at our press event as the ‘Fun Button’. Once pushed, this button instantly adjusts the drive train for maximum acceleration for 20 seconds, for overtaking and so on. When you push it, the car instantly shifts down and throttle response is maximised, turning it into a lairy beast for a few seconds. You can either wait 20 seconds for it to time out, or press the button again to switch it off. We found we used it far more for making noise in Yas Tunnel than for overtaking…

So there you have it – despite minimal visual updates, the new 911 itself is a whole new beast, and takes the iconic Porsche into new realms of technological wizardry and general driving enjoyment. You’d expect nothing less from Porsche really!

الخروج مّما يجعل االنعطاف أسرع بكثير. إّنه لشئ مذهل!وأّما الّتغيير الكبير األخير فهو تقديم طريقة الّسياقة بالحلقة الّدّوارة مع حزمة سبورت-كرونو. من هنا تستطيع اختيار طريقة الّسياقة “عادي”،

“رّياضي”، و”رّياضي بالس” التي أصبحنا نعرفها من خالل الّنماذج الّسابقة. ولكن، تتمّيز 911 الجديدة كّلّيُا بزرار رّد الفعل الّرّياضي والذي اشتهر في عالم اإلعالم بزرار المتعة. عند الّضغط على هذا الّزرار، يتم تعديل الّسياقة فورًا من أجل الوصول إلى أقصى تسارع ممكن لمّدة

20 ثانية وللّتجاوز. عند الّضغط، تنخفض الّسّيارة فورًا وتبلغ استجابة دّواسة الوقود حّدها األقصى، فتتحّول 911 إلى وحش جّذاب لثوان قليلة.

وتستطيع االنتظار 20 دقيقة لتعود الّسّيارة إلى طبيعتها او أن نضغط على الّزرار مجّددًا.

وهكذا، برغم الّتغييرات التي قد تبدو للعين المجّردة قليلة وسطحّية، 911 الجديدة كّلّيًا أشبه بوحش ميكانيكّي مختلف تمامًا ذهب بسّيارة

بورش األيقونة إلى مستويات جديدة من حيث الّتكنولوجيا ومتعة الّسياقة بشكل عام. لن نتوّقع أقّل من ذلك من بورش!

THEsE unique, compact BBQ units boast an innovative design that is not only very efficient, but also very safe. This is because if they are accidentally tipped over, the smouldering coals won’t be spilled all over your boat, creating a potential fire hazard.

The LotusGrill is basically a central mesh cylinder of hot coals in a metallic reflective tub that sends all the cooking heat upwards. It also boasts a built-in speed-adjustable fan powered by three AA batteries that helps to ignite the coals, as well as boosting heat during cooking if desired. Because of the reflective tub, less coal is required, because more of the heat is being sent upwards to the grill, instead of down into the BBQ itself as with conventional types.

A bonus is that, because of the way that the coals are kept safely inside the cylinder, they won’t spill out even if the unit rolls over. It can also be picked up even while it’s cooking, as the heat doesn’t escape and heat the outside casing of the unit. You can literally pick it up by hand and turn it upside down without disaster. Although you might want to take the steaks off first…
