From the Pastor: Dear Members and Friends, It seems as though I just said ‘Hello’ and I am already saying ‘Goodbye’. However, it has been good to spend a few months with you as Interim pastor. Again I wish to thank the Joint Board and Rev. Jeff Van Orden for affording me the opportunity to serve Palmyra Moravian Church. Palmyra Moravian is blessed with good facilities, good management of resources and a hard-working Joint Board. It is challenged by having a lot of members living far away and needs to reach out to the local community while finding ways to serve the far-flung congregation. I am glad to have been part of a time of meeting needs of members and friends, proclaiming the gospel to adults and children, and enjoying the warm fellowship which exists. I do believe that with so much going for the congregation there is a good future ahead and the church must be willing to be innovative and take some risks. With that said, I wish to use this opportunity to welcome aboard, our new pastor, Rev. Laura Gordon and pray that her ministry among us will be blessed by the Lord. Let us keep in mind the Great Commission:- Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20 George Richmond. Interim Pastor

Reverend George Richmond

Our kind and gentle Interim Pastor, Brother George, has been hospitalized. Unexpectedly and unfortunately, he will be undergoing heart bypass surgery this Thursday. The Elders have been in touch with Esther, his wife, and with George to let them know they are in our prayers. We had hoped to be able to honor Brother George and Esther with a goodbye luncheon on April 22nd, however, those plans are canceled. We will wait for another opportunity to express our appreciation for his care of our congregation during our time in need of a pastor. They have truly been a blessing to our congregation and we hope they come and worship with us when Brother George’s health improves. In the meantime, please add Brother George and his family to your personal prayer list.

Moravian Thoughts and Beliefs

Easter People Did you know Moravians are known as the “Easter People?”On a day we call “Easter” Christians gather to celebrate God’s resurrection of Jesus Christ. This holy day lies at the very heart of being a Moravian. According to an article from the Northern Province Moravian Achives’ series “This Month in Moravian History,” the traditions of the Sunrise Service date back 280 years. In the early morning of Easter Sunday 1732, the young men of Herrnhut, Germany, gathered in the cemetery on the hill overlooking their Moravian community to celebrate the resurrection of Christ. It was the first Moravian Sunrise Service. The next year the service was held for the entire congregation. The Easter Morning Sunrise Service has become one of the characteristic liturgical traditions in the Moravian Church. So set your alarm and join the “Easter People” for our Easter Sunrise Service at 6:00 AM!!

The Lord is Risen….The Lord is Risen Indeed “The Resurrection of the Dead”

Do you know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?...if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his! (Romans 6:3,5) Let’s rejoice together during the 10AM Easter Worship Service and enjoy singing the favorite Moravian hymn, “Sing, Hallelujah, Praise the Lord!”

Social Action Committee

Social Action Committee Update "The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters

of mine, you did for me.' Matthew 25:40 We have been supporting Aurare Providence from the Nyamagabe Region of Rwanda for many years now. We have received wonderful news from World Vision that because of our years of partnering with others and by God’s grace, Aurare and her family and community are now equipped with the training and tools they need to reach their God-given potential. So, we say farewell to Aurare and hello to Diane Mukanziza also from Rwanda. She has been eagerly awaiting a sponsor. It is nice to know that we were able to help Aurare and now we have the opportunity to support Diane. We continue to support Rosemay Rana through the Moravian Institute in India. Our monthly collections and fundraisers are making a difference in the lives of these young people!
