August, will be preceded by a 1-day Advanced QEEG workshop with Dr de Ridder and Jay Gunkelman on Friday 25 th

August and a 2-day Biofeedback workshop with Fred Shaffer will follow the conference on the 28 th & 29th August 2017.

Professor de Ridder is the founder and director of the BRAI²N (Brain Research consortium for Advanced, Innovative & Interdisciplinary Neuromodulation). His main interest is the understanding and treatment of phantom perceptions (sound, pain), especially by use of neuromodulation techniques. He has developed “burst” and “noise” stimulation as novel stimulation designs for implants. He has published 35 bookchapters, co-edited the Textbook of Tinnitus, has

authored or co-authored 199 pubmed listed papers and is reviewer for more than 60 journals.

Jay Gunkelman, QEEG Diplomate, is recognized as one of the top leaders in the field of EEG and QEEG, and has processed over 500,000 EEGs since 1972. He was the first EEG technologist to be certified in QEEG (1996) and was granted Diplomate status in 2002. He has conducted, published or participated in hundreds of research papers, articles, books and meetings internationally. He continues to lecture on EEG/QEEG at neuroscience meetings worldwide particularly on the topic of QEEG and phenotype identification of neurological disorders.

Fredric Shaffer, PhD, BCB is a biological psychologist and professor of Psychology - awarded for faculty and research excellence. He was the principal co-editor of Evidence-Based Practice in Biofeedback and Neurofeedback (3rd ed.) and authored 12 of its chapters. His current research focuses on techniques to increase heart rate variability biofeedback. Dr. Shaffer is a BCIA Senior Diplomate and accredited educator in Biofeedback, and current Chair of the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA). Post-conference, Dr Shaffer will teach a 2-day BCIA –accredited workshop addressing the BCIA Blueprint for Biofeedback (HRV focus).

Whether in research laboratories, performance training or health centres, the advantage of self-regulation methodologies is finding the sun! Our bodies and minds are complex interactive systems that respond, adapt and grow in response to many kinds of information. Being able to enter these feedback loops and guide aspects of ourselves towards greater achievement is both challenging and exciting. This conference will focus on encouraging us to widen our aperture to perceive the advantage of integrating biofeedback techniques in our work.
