Appendix 8.2 – Waste Management Guidance

In the event of any Oil recovery, storage, transport & final disposal, KOC would set up a dedicated team within its response organization to manage this aspect. All aspects of waste management would need the involvement and agreement of the regulatory authorities

The following are the key actions/deliverables indicated out of this plan for the purpose of induction only, enabling contractor to estimate basic resource requirements (it does not mean that the other actions/ deliverables are not applicable)

• Disposal of oil and oiled materials will be conducted in an environmentally safe manner consistent with all appropriate regulations and Company policy

• Hazardous substances will be transported by permitted transporter and disposed of in government permitted disposal facilities

• “Development of a site-specific safety and health plan addressing the proper PPE and waste handling procedures” should be considered during a spill response.

• Do not mix non-hazardous waste with hazardous ones

• Avoid mixing several different hazardous wastes

• The purpose of characterizing waste is to protect employee safety and ensure the proper waste handling and disposal of waste according to the appropriate regulations.

• The different types of wastes (oil, water, debris) generated during response operations require different disposal techniques.

• For proper disposal, the landfill must be permitted by the appropriate regulatory agencies. (Land-filling large quantities of waste material should be considered after all other alternatives have been eliminated )

• Documentation of all waste handling and disposal activities • Disposal of all waste in a safe and approved manner
