List of Contents

1. All chemical used for anti-termite treatment are poisonous and hazardous to health.

2. Keep the containers closed and secured.3. Wear protective clothing while handling the chemicals.4. Avoid flames in the vicinity during mixing.5. Never allow treatment chemicals to contaminate sources of drinking water.6. Follow instructions provided by the manufacturer in the MSDS ( Material

Safety Data Sheet ). 7. In case of poisoning take remedial measures according to the MSDS

provided by the manufacturer and as per IS 4015.

2. Health Hazards and Safety Measures

Anti-Termite Treatment

1. Scope How to Carry out of Pre-Constructional Anti-Termite

Chemical Treatment for the Building.

3. IS 6313 Part 3 – Treatment for Existing Buildings

2. IS 6313 Part 2 – Pre-Constructional Anti-Termite Measures in Buildings

1. IS 6313 Part 1 – Constructional Measures

IS 6313 - Code of practice for anti-termite measures in buildings.

3. Codes & Standards

Anti-Termite Treatment

This Presentation is Specific to IS 6313 Part 2

4. Submit Material Specification and MSDS to EIC before start of work

3. Follow Indian Standard Safety Code and Site Specific Safety rules

2. Anti-termite treatment should be carried out in the early stages of construction of buildings:- Start from substructure and up to plinth level.

1. Anti-termite treatment is a specialist job: Use only specialized agencies for carrying out anti-termite treatment preferably a member of Indian Pest Control Association.

4. General Requirements

Anti-Termite Treatment

1. Remove all organic matter, construction debris, rubbish etc.2. Water logged foundations shall be treated after drying when the soil is

absorbent.3. For low penetration and slopping sites, surface to be scarified 75mm depth.4. Complete all cutting, excavation, leveling & grading before starting

treatment .

5. Site Preparation

Anti-Termite Treatment

1. Chloropyriphos 20% EC bearing ISI certification .2. Dilute 1 part of Chloropyriphos 20% EC with 19 part of water to get 1%

emulsion.3. Indian pest control association approved chemical shall be used.4. Contractor shall submit purchase vouchers to EIC for verification.

6. Materials

Anti-Termite Treatment

1. Chemical emulsion should be applied uniformly by sprayers.2. Specified rates should be applied at each stages of treatment.3. Pressure pumps and sprayers of adequate capacity shall be used for proper

penetration of chemical.

7. Mode of Application and Rate of Application

Anti-Termite Treatment

1. Foundations shall be completely

enveloped with chemical barrier.2. Treatment shall be from sub

structure to plinth surface3. Apply emulsion @ 5 Ltrs/ Sqm

for normal load bearing structures

4. Vertical surfaces @ 7.50 Ltrs/Sqm.

Treatment in Foundation Trenches:In case of normal wall load bearing structures,

columns pits, wall trenches and basement, the treatment shall be at 5 litres/sqm. or surface area of the bottom and sides to a height of at least 300mm.

After the foundation work, the sides shall be treated at 7.5 litres/sqm. of vertical surface of substructure on each side.

After the earth filling is done, treatment shall be done by rodding the earth at 150mm centres close to wall surface and spraying the chemical with the above dose i.e. 7.5 litres/sqm.

In case of framed structure, the treatment shall start at a depth of 500mm below ground level. From this depth the backfill around the columns, beams and R.C.C. basement walls shall be treated at 7.5 litres / sqm. of the vertical and at 5 litres / sqm. for the horizontal surface at the bottom in the trenches / pits.

9. Treatment for RCC Foundations & Basement

1. Treatment shall start at a depth of 500 mm below the ground level/FML.

2. Apply emulsion for vertical surfaces @ 7.50 Ltrs/Sqm.

11. Junction of the Wall and Floors

Anti-Termite Treatment

1. Continuity of vertical chemical barrier on inner wall surface from ground level to finished floor level is required.

2. Treatment shall be carried out byi. Placing a channel of 30x30 mm at all junctions of wall and columns with

floor before sub grade is laid.ii. Make holes using 12 mm dia rod@ 150mm c/c and breakup the earth up

to ground level.iii. Pour chemical emulsion into the holes @ 7.5 Lit/Sqm. iv. Tamp back the soil into the channel and consolidate the earth.

1. Care to ensure that the chemical barrier is

complete and continuous.2. The treatment shall not be carried out when

it is raining or when the soil is wet.3. Treated soil surface shall not be disturbed.4. Take immediate steps to restore the

continuity and completeness of the barrier system if treated soil gets disturbed.

18. Precautions During and After Treatment

Anti-Termite Treatment

SPRAYING EQUIPMENT•A pressure pump shall be used to carry out spraying operations to facilitate proper penetration of chemical into the earth. The chemicals, concentration and dosage for horizontal and vertical surfaces are based on the IS code of practice for Anti-termite measures in Buildings. IS 6313 (Part-II).

PRECAUTIONS DURING MONSOON•No spraying shall be carried out when it rains. Treatment should be repeated in plinth areas if it rains immediately after a spraying operation and before the emulsion has soaked into the soil.

1. Measurement shall be made in Sq.mtr on the basis of plinth area of the building.

20. Mode of Measurement

Anti-Termite Treatment

1. Rate includes the cost of materials, labour and all tools, plants, sprayers and safety equipments required for complete operation.
