“ Who was the mother of the earth and of all the gods her name was Gaea” (pg. 99).

This is an allusion to the book of Greek mythology.

“EGO”(pg. 105). Most people when

they hear the word ego bad thoughts start rushing through their mind such as self-fish or self centered. In this book ego is used as a symbol to freedom and independence.

Page 4: Anthem analysis

“I love you”(pg. 98).

This use of dialogue helps us visualize the way Gaea is feeling.

Page 5: Anthem analysis

“someday we shall stop and build a house” (pg. 85).

This gives us a brief foreshadow of what Prometheus wants in a future.

“Our name is equality 7-2521 as it is written on the iron bracelet which all men wear on their left wrist with their name upon it. We are six feet tall, and this is a burden, for there are not many man who are six feet tall.” (pg. 18).

This gives you a brief description of how our character looks and what's his role in the story.

A simile is a comparison of two things using the word like or as in this simile they’re comparing their body's to a thin blade of iron.

“how dared you think that your mind held greater wisdom then the minds of your brothers?” (pg. 71).

A rhetorical question is a sarcastic question that’s not meant to have an answer. This question that is being asked is a rhetorical question because the man is asking out of sarcasm, he doesn't want an answer from it but its almost like he was laughing in his face.

“the sleeping halls there were white and clean and bare with hundreds of beds” (pg. 20).

Imagery helps us visualize things better here imagery helps us visualize the halls in which they slept in.

“the word which can never die on this earth, for it is the heart of it and the meaning and the glory. The sacred word: EGO” (pg. 105).

This makes the readers mood go from sad to happy because you feel happy for him, for he has finally found what he was missing in his heart! (:
