It began with the ceremonious marching in of the ' Graduating

Batch' followed by the lighting of the traditional lamp which was

done by the dignitaries present at the occasion. After the welcome

and felicitation of the guests, the principal Lt. Col. Y.H.V.S Pra-

sad presented the Annual School Report. He summarized the

happenings, results and plans for the year past. He gave a detailed

account of the events and progress, the school has made to pro-

vide high quality educational opportunities for all students. This

was followed with a speech by the Chief Guest Major Moham-

med Ali Shah who greeted the audience and expressed his joy to

be present on such an auspicious occasion. He emphasized on

each one to be sincere, honest, dedicated which will enable the

students to conquer any hurdle in this world. He further quoted

an extract from Abraham Lincoln's letter and read out the poem 'If' advising them to be dreamers and realize the

efforts and hard work of their parents.

The Speech Day progressed further with the prize distribution ceremony. Distribution of prizes to the meri-

torious students from Grade 4 to IBDP 2 (Class 12) was carried out successfully. The coveted Arjuna Award

and Eklavya award recipient for this year was Rudrajeet Chaudhari of grade 8 and Sharon Biju of IBDP2

respectively. The much awaited Cock House Trophy was bagged by Palmer House. The Graduating Found-

ers Trophy was awarded to the oldest student of CVSL, Kundan Singh.

The Graduation Ceremony is one of the most symbolic events of a Speech Day. It represents the hard work and

achievements that students have partaken in to earn their status as a graduate. The IBDP2 (Class 12) students

marched in solemnly towards the stage elegantly dressed in their robes and tassels. The event was made all the

more touching by the heartfelt words of Viral Shah and Ria Mutha. The program concluded with a profound

speech by the former Head Boy Arya Advani.

Inter house drama was conducted on the 12th of April 2016.

The event started off with Savage House presenting its play,

'The Game Of Life' directed by Aditya Pathak, who won the

Best actor male. The play featured an alcoholic man and how

his life was ruined because of excessive use of alcohol. In the

end, the protagonist ended up killing himself because of the

grief the alcohol had put him through. The next house to take

the stage was the Wilson house. The name of the play was

'Shooting for the Stars' which was also the English translation

of their motto, directed by Sunil Pingale who won the best

director award. Their play was based on a special child and

how she overcame the difficulties with music beside her. The

play was beautifully enacted by Punya Sethi who captured the

award for the best actor female. The third house to participate

that evening was the Palmer house that portrayed the 26/11

attacks on Mumbai. The directors of this play were Aarya Ad-

vani, Kiara Lakdawala and Jaymala More. The last play of the

night was presented by the Thomas house directed by Mugdha

Nikam and Hitaarth Mehta. The play 'Let my country awake'

showcased the Indian Culture and the society. The most await-

ed moment finally arrived when the respected Principal an-

nounced the house positions. Wilson House stole the show by

grabbing the first position, Palmer followed by the second

position, Savage came third and Thomas came fourth.

To seek the blessings of God for all the 10th

and the 12th graders who would be appearing

for exams in May, 2016, a Havan was

organized at school. It was a delight to see the

entire CVSL family dressed in traditional

attire. Everybody solemnly prayed with the

faith that their hard work and perseverance

through the session would be blessed by the

divine power that guides everybody’s lives.

This was an auspicious day, as the Principal

and all the staff members came together to

bless the students and wished them good luck.

The sweet ‘prasada’ that was distributed at the

end of the ceremony was symbolic of the fact

that the fruits of labour are always sweet and

that hard work coupled with God’s blessings

can yield great results.
