The Head Girl, VarshiniS. Clement delivered the welcome speech. Mr. Hamed Al Barwani, Director of Administrative Affairs was the Chief Guest and Mr. Abdullah Ali Al Hamhami, Director of Municipality was the Guest of Honour. Mr. Yusuf Hilal Al Maskari, Head of Food Process accompanied as special guest. Principal Mr. Regi Oommen read the Annual Report. SMC President Mr. Robin Rohit Vincent addressed the parents. The Chief Guest too addressed the gathering. The Chief Guest gave away the Proficiency prizes, mementoes to the Students’ Council Members and prized to the award winners such as Best Elocutionist, Best Debater, Best Volunteer, Computer Wiz & Best Singer. The Kanakshi Khimji Award of Best All Round Student for the year 2013 14 was awarded to Miss Sadiyah Manidhar. The Guest of Honour released the 13 th Volume of School’s Newsletter “Stallion”. The cultural programme started with a classical dance by SivaPriya, Class IX followed by Prayer Dance. It was then followed by the dances of these cute, innocent kids of the junior classes. Dance Drama Shakuntala, Illusion Dance, Neon Dance and Gloves Dance were the special programmes of the occasion. Senior Boys performed the Bhangra and Omani Folk Dance. Songs were sung by Master Mohammad Hamid, Saadman and School Choir as fillers. Head Boy Robin Roy gave the Vote of Thanks. The programme ended with the School Anthem sung by the School Choir. Annual Day

The 24th Annual Day was celebrated with great pomp

Dance Drama – Shakuntala, Illusion Dance, Neon Dance and Gloves Dance were the special programmes of the occasion. Senior Boys performed the Bhangra and

Omani Folk Dance. Songs were sung by Master Mohammad Hamid, Saadman and School Choir as fillers. Head Boy Robin Roy gave the Vote of Thanks. The programme ended with the School Anthem sung by the School Choir.

presented by the school choir. The dignitaries were given a floral welcome by the students. The Principal Regi Oommen welcomed the guests. The respective House Councillors of Blue, Green, Red, Yellow Houses introduced their Captains, Vice Captains and Prefects respectively. Mrs. Snehal R. Gupte, Supervisor, introduced the six office bearers of the Students’ Council who were elected.The Student Council

Members are – Head Boy: Jelin Raphael Akkara (X), Head Girl: Siva Priya (X), Vice Head Boy: Allen Roy (IX), Vice Head Girl: Sharon Elizabeth S (IX), Sports Captain: Muhd. Nidal O. K (X) and Cultural Secretary: Amitha Arunkumar (IX).The badges to the newly inducted council members were conferred by the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and Mr.Atul Sharma, P.E.T. The Principal, Chief Guest and Guest of Honour addressed the students on the occasion.The function was concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr.

Moses Justus, Supervisor.

Science and Maths Exhibition

13thJune, 2015 was the day, Indian School Ibra’s motto,

‘Knowledge is Power’, came to life. Children participated energetically and enthusiastically to spread knowledge to everyone they met. With the air filled passion, the young scientists and mathematicians greeted the arrival of the Chief Guest and the members of SMC warmly. They presented projects on various

significant themes such as technology, science and environmental concern which were based on the portions taught. There was a variety of projects like MHD Propeller, Electric Transformers, Biogas Plant, Agricultural Society, Step Farming agriculture and many other jaw-dropping projects. Both children and

teachers put in their best efforts to mesmerize the minds of the parents and all those who had visited. With smiles on their faces, the parents said they enjoyed each and every moment of the exhibition. With knowledge flowing through the air, the programme

became a grand success. It was indeed a wonderful and unique experience for students, parents and teachers.

Bringing Home Glory

The students actively participated in the various inter-school events. Master Amal Mathew also won the title “Sastra Pratibha” in Sastra Pratibha Contest – 2014-15 and was awarded with cash prize of R.O.150/- along with the Trophy. School Quiz Team - Master Amal Mathew and Master Joseph Benny of Class X - won the

First Position among the 14 Indian schools in the Grand Challenge Astro-Physics Quiz - 2015organised by Indian School, Al-Wadi Al-Kabir on 27

th May, 2015.

Many students participated in the 9thJhankaar Spectrum

on 13th

October, 2015 organised by Indian School, Muscat. Our students actively participated in CBSE Oman Cluster Table Tennis and Kho-Kho tournaments. The girls’ Kho-Kho team was able to reach the semi-

finals. Students also took part in Times of Oman Quiz, Spelling Bee, Malayalam Quiz and Debate contests. This was a great opportunity for our students to not only to showcase their talents, intermingle with the students of other Indian Schools in Sultanate of Oman and also to bring laurels for the school.

Independence Day

India became an independent country on 15thAugust,

1947. This day is celebrated as Independence Day every year. The 68

thIndependence Day was celebrated

with great enthusiasm and respect on 15th August,

2015. The ceremony started with the Principal’s welcome address. Mr.Chief Guest Mr. Augustine Joseph was given the Guard of Honour by the Scouts

and Guides and he unfurled the tri-colour flag. It was followed by the National Anthem. Hiba Mohid, Class X gave an inspiring thought and Jophin Augustine, Class X read the news. An instrumental music was presented

by the boys of Class X and a group song was sung by the girls of Class X. The Head Boy Master Jelin Raphael gave a speech on the significance of Independence Day in English and the Head Girl Siva Priya in Hindi. The programme was concluded up with a patriotic song. Indeed it was a day of love, respect and immense patriotism shown towards our country.

International Students’ Day

A special assembly was conducted with overwhelming enthusiasm on 18 October 2015 by the students of Class X to celebrate the International Students’ Day. It began with a prayer song by the school choir. This special Assembly was conducted to felicitate Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam because he enlightened the knowledge among the students and society. The thought for the day was given by Mohamed Arshad. A speech was given by Joseph Benny to highlight the significance of the day. The Head Boy Jelin Raphael gave a short speech on alternative source of energy which was

useful and comprehended by all. The Principal Mr. Regi Oommen appreciated and thanked the students

for their extraordinary efforts taken by the students. The special assembly came to an end with a patriotic song and distribution of sweets.

Teachers’ Day

A teacher is a doctor who heals ignorance and an artist who inspires creativity. Indian School Ibra celebrated the Teachers’ Day with great enthusiasm. It was conducted by the students of Class IX. The

programme comprised with lots of surprise games for the teachers which were conducted by the senior students. A speech was given by Siva Priya, the Head Girl. The students got a chance to sincerely thank their teachers for their dedicated work and service. It was great fun for both teachers and students.

Clubs

The holistic development of the students is developed through their participation in club activities. They are encouraged to join these clubs to pursue areas of personal interests. The various club activities related to Integrity, Literary (English, Hindi), Health and Wellness,

Heritage, Maths, Art & Craft, Science, and Eco Clubs are led by the students of Class IX & X and the respective teacher in-charges. The club activities are

conducted every Monday. Students are given opportunities to have an all-round development through various activities of the clubs. Assemblies based on the clubs activities are also conducted.

Eid Mubarak

On the occasion of Eid Al-Adha the students of Class X conducted a special assembly with great jubilation on 7

th October, 2015. The assembly was conducted to

inculcate the values of obedience and sacrifice in life and also to appreciate the importance of devotion to God. A short speech was given by Maryam Khalid on the importance of Eid Al-Adha which was followed by a song sung by the senior girls. A skit showing Prophet

Ibrahim’s obedience and sacrifice to God was presented by the students.

Heritage Day

The Heritage Day assembly was conducted by Classes VI and X on 19

th April, 2015.The assembly started off

with a delightful prayer song by the school choir group,

followed by an inspiring thought by Sujay Lawrence. A speech was given by Amal Mathew of Class X which was informative and inspiring. Later, Girls of Class X sung a group song which was followed by a group dance performed by girls of Class VI. The assembly ended with patriotic song sung by the School Choir.

Yoga Day

The students conducted a Special Assembly on 26

thMay, 2015 to commemorate the First International

Day of Yoga. The thought for the day was presented by the Head Boy Master Jelin Raphael, Class X. The news update related was given by Master Joseph Benny, Class X. A short speech related to the occasion was delivered by Master Amal Mathew, Class

X. The formal introduction to the Yoga Day Special Assembly was followed by presentation of Yoga Asanas by the Students from Blue, Green, Red and Yellow Houses. Each House presented an Asana and gave information about the benefits of the Asana

presented by their group. The Chief Guest for this occasion was Mr. Robin Vincent Rohit, President, SMC and the Guest of Honour was Mrs. Latha Anandan, Academic Sub-Committee Chairman. As the students performed the Asana the full atmosphere in and around the school was engrossed into the world of yoga. The entire event was a treat to the eyes as the students imbibed a valuable lesson of physical, spiritual and mental discipline through Yoga.

World Red Cross Day

World Red Cross Day was celebrated by the ebullient students of Class V and VI. World Red Cross Day is an annual celebration of the principles of International World Red Cross movement. It is celebrated on 8

th

May every year. The assembly was compered by

Mosammat Noor of Class V. An informative thought was given by Mohd. Abdul Malik of Class V. The enthusiastic students of Class V and VI performed an edifying skit. The assembly was concluded with a group song.

Talent Days

Talent Day is an auspicious event held in the school to let the children show their hidden talents. There are lots of events in the talent day that the children can participate in. Talent Day - 1 was held on 3

rdSeptember, 2015 which included only scholastic

competitions like declamation, elocution, recitation, etc. There were many students participating in many events. Each student was allowed to participate in a maximum of four events. Yellow house bagged the first position. Talent Day - 2 was conducted on

1stDecember, 2015 which included co-scholastic

competitions like solo folk dance, solo vocal song,

mime, card making, digital painting, fancy dress, skit, etc. The competition for Classes I to IV was conducted class-wise and for Classes V to X was conducted house-wise. Green house bagged the first position. The programme turned to be a grand success with active participation of 287 students in various

competitions. The Green House won the Runner-up position and the Winner Trophy was bagged by the Yellow House in co-scholastic activities for the academic year 2015 - 16.

Hindi Diwas

On the occasion of Hindi Diwas, Classes VII and IX conducted a special assembly on 2

nd October, 2015. It

started with a melodious prayer song which was followed by a beautiful thought by Saman Fathima (IX)

Sabrina (IX) delivered an inspiring speech on the significance of Hindi Day. This was followed by recitation of some thought provoking ‘Dohein’ in Hindi. The assembly ended with a meaningful skit by the students of Class IX. In short, the assembly instilled in students an awe and respect for the language Hindi.

Annual Athletic Meet

The school celebrated the 25th Annual Athletic Meet

with great grandeur on 24th November, 2015 at Al-

Nazadi, Safalat Ibra Sports Ground. The opening ceremony commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest Sheikh Abdullah Bin Ahmed Al-Harthi, Director

General of Sports Affairs, Sharqiya Region, Ibra followed by the March Past of all the four platoons namely the Red, Blue, Green and Yellow houses. The Head Boy Master Jelin Raphael extended a warm welcome to everyone present. The Athletic Meet was declared open by the Chief Guest which was followed

the captivating novelty races by the tiny tots of Classes KG. I to Class II.The exotic mass drill by the juniors and seniors left the viewers in a frenzy of excitement. The day was made more memorable by various track and field events for girls and boys. The students left the gathering even more rapt as they showcased their

multi-faceted talents. The medals and cups of triumph were given away to the winners by the Chief Guest and

SMC Members. The Championship trophy for the March Past was bagged by the Blue House. The cups of victory for 4x100m relay race was won by the Green House in both girls and boys category. The Rolling Trophy for the Overall Runner up was won by the Blue

House and the Winner Trophy was won by the Green House. The individual Champions of the meet were Elro Jade Spies(V) and Akhila M. (V) among the juniors and Md. Lanish Fasal (VII) and Michaela Spies (VII) among seniors. The awe-inspiring event was concluded with retreat March Past followed by the vote of thanks proposed by the Head Girl – Siva Priya (X).

Christmas

The students with great joy and enthusiasm took part in the Christmas celebration held on 13

th December,

2015. The day started off with a motivational thought followed by the news update. A speech on the importance of Christmas was given by Rachael of Class IV. The students performed a skit with the holy message of Christmas followed by the carol. The

arrival of Santa Clause dancing on Jingle Bells made the school campus very jovial and happy.

Blooming Buds

The beginning of our studies starts from KG. I. Kindergarten is the pre-reception class catering for children of three to four years age group. The education provided in kindergarten aims not only to meet all the early years’ foundation stage criteria but also to take learning in all areas beyond these boundaries. Kindergarten is a happy and busy classroom, filled with excited children eager to explore and learn. The children learn mathematics, literacy and phonics and

begin to recognise read and learn. By the end of the school year, children are well on the way to become

confident readers. Blooming flowers from the kindergarten were dressed up in different colours for different days like Red day, Yellow day and Green day. They come to school with fresh mood, happiness and make the day enjoyable. The Red Day and Yellow Day

were held on 29th

April and 27th

May, 2015 respectively. The day was commenced with clay modelling followed by crushing activities and collage making. The class was decorated with activities done by the students of kindergarten themselves.

Onam

Onam is a harvest festival and the most important festival of Kerala. Celebration of this grand festival was organized by the enthusiastic students of Class VIII and X on 25

th August, 2015. An inspirational thought was

given by Mohd Salman Khan. An informative speech was delivered by FaizaAkther. The most impressive part of the Onam was the “Thiruvadira" dance, performed by girls of Class of VIII and X. Some melodious songs were also sung by students to grace this occasion. The assembly concluded with a Folk performance, "Pulikali" by the boys which added to the

zest of the celebration. In short, this was a spectacular celebration which could be cherished for a long time.

Care for Nature

World Environment Day is celebrated every year on 5

thJune to raise global awareness to take positive

environmental action to protect nature and the planet Earth. Students of Class VII and IX conducted a special assembly on 7

thJune, 2015 to commemorate World

Environment Day. The assembly aimed at educating students on the importance of protecting the environment and encouraging them to take positive steps in this regard. Our assembly commence with a delightful prayer song by the School choir group, followed by an inspiring thought. A meaningful and informative speech about the theme of environmental day was delivered by Aisha of Class IX. To make a perfect blend a marvellous group song was sung by Anowar, Bharath, and Venedict of Class IX. Askit was presented to make aware the impact of environment in our life. Also a Mime Show was enacted by the students of Class VII entertained the audience.

National Day of Oman

The school celebrated the 45th National Day of Oman

on 19th November 2015 with great splendour. The

students of Class VI and VII put up different cultural

events highlighting the great heritage and culture of Oman. Mr. Abdul Rahim delivered an inspiring speech in Arabic praising His Majesty for 45 glorious years of his reign. Miss Gopika Gopakumar of Class VII also gave a speech describing the importance of the day. The participants mesmerized the audience with their graceful dances and melodious songs.

Constitution Day

The students of Class IX actively took part in the Constitution Day assembly conducted on 26

th

November 2015. The assembly carried the message of democracy and socialism. Barat Kumar narrated

the preamble of the Indian Constitution. A patriotic song was sung by the melodious girls of the class. Various students with great enthusiasm presented a mime depicting the unity of diversity in India. The senior students succeeded in passing on the message of patriotism towards our country.

Gandhi Jayanthi

To mark the occasion of the 146th

birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, a special assembly was held. The assembly was conducted by the students of Class VIII and X.

The programme started with a prayer and a minute silence to show our devotion and respect towards ‘Bapuji’. A skit was performed by the senior students giving inspiration to other students on the values of honesty and self-reliance.

The Competitive World

Several competitive exams were held in the year 2015. TIMSS (Science) exam is conducted every four years by Ministry of Education for Classes IV and VIII.

ASSET – A diagnostic test for English, Hindi, Mathematics and Science was conducted for Classes III to X to inculcate a love for learning and understanding new things. Cyber, Science, Mathematics and English Olympiads are held for Classes I to X. Master Amal Mathew achieved an international rank of 947 and state rank of 8 in National Science Olympiad and international rank of 199 and state rank of 3 in International Maths Olympiad. 93 students from Classes V to X participated in Sastra Pratibha Contest 2015 – 16 enthusiastically and the results awaited.

The Uniform Movement

The mission of Scouting is to contribute to the education of young people, through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Law to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society. The students of Classes V to VIII go through the training of this mission. The Annual Training Camp was held on 22

nd and 23

rd February, 2015. 85 Scouts and 69

Guides attended the camp. They happily involved themselves in various training sessions organised by the Scouts Masters and Guide Captains and had a trekking to Wahiba Sands. The camp ended with the Brotherhood and Thinking day special assembly.

Workshops and Interactions

The Principal, Indian School Ibri, Mr. Vinoba, Mentor of Indian School Ibra appointed by CBSE, visited the

school and had a wonderful time interacting with students especially with the students of Class X. He spoke about the important things that we use in our daily life which makes us remember what we are today. Few English teachers from Oman Government School from Ibra attended the English classes to have exchange of ideas and innovative methods in teaching English Language as part of their English Week

Celebration. A street play on “Save Water” was presented by our students of Classes III to V at Bidiya Municipality on their request, as part of their water conservation awareness programme on 23

rd March,

2015. On the occasion of the 45th National Day Mars

hypermarket organized a competitions for Classes V and VII. The winners were awarded with prizes.

Children’s Day

It was a long awaited day for the children. It was conducted by the students of Classes V and IX. Everyone was eagerly waiting for the programmes to start. The assembly started with a beautiful prayer

song by the school choir. Teachers conducted several games for the students of Classes IX and X. A melodious song was sung by our teachers. All the

students were provided with tasty snacks and juices. All these activities made the Children’s Day a day to cherish for our blooming stars.
