new faith in the future, and had a chance to make their

voices heard on the rights of the child.

Our priority is to ensure :•Early Childhood Education (3-6 years old).

Save Girl Child

“Daughter is the knot that ties the family together". "A baby girl is

one of the most beautiful miracles in life, one of the greatest joys we

can ever know, & one of the reasons why there is a extra sunshine,

laughter and happiness in our life today.”

We have been conducting various awareness programs for “Save a

Girl Child” mainly in rural areas and educating people on their

contribution towards nature.

Hamara Beti was launched to take care of the academic expense

of underprivileged girls. The programme aims at empowering

these girls by providing them the means to lead a life of dignity

without any discrimination. The programme was launched at

Kalinga Institute of Medical Science, Bhubaneswar, Odisha on

Apr 2013 and will be launched in other hospitals.

Proposed Projects to Support Orphanage

We all have experienced through our efforts and learnt through our projects the value of

every effort that is put into action. Our endeavor is to reach out to as many donors &

Support for Physically & Mentally

Challenged

When a child is born in a family, celebrations start

taking place. To become parents is the greatest blessing

from God. But when there is some disorder in the child,

the whole celebration turns into mourning.

The entire focus of the SKFECT has been to add value to

the life of the challenged in society. A large number of

functions of the SKFECT have moved towards the

challenged such as:-

Provide wheel Chairs to disable persons.

Give a poor child the ability to listen by sponsoring a hearing aid.

Support the rehabilitation of a disadvantaged, physically/mentally challenged child .

Sponsor an Early intervention program for a child with special needs for a year.

Donate to a fund that will help us treat poor filariasis patients at our hospitals.

Provide a Netbook to help a visually challenged student continue higher education

Employment & Empowerment

of Women

SKFECT strongly believes that women should have equal

socio-economic, cultural and political opportunities as men.

With this ideology in mind, a successful attempt was made to

achieve a 50:50 ratio for both genders at all our formal

schools.

The training camp for women in Bhubaneswar under Khurda

District was helped during the year under report. The process

of formation of SHG and its management etc. were explained

the rural women to implement the programme successfully.

Towards self employment purposes, the management and

operation of SHG is quite helpful.

Support to Old Age

For many older people who don't have a roof over their heads

or a place to call their own,

SKFECT -supported old age homes & day care centers are safe heavens where they can live

their lives with dignity and interact with their peers.

A rising trend is being noticed among the urban elderly also, who move out of their homes and

into habitats especially catering to their needs, in order to spend their later years in comfort.

SKFECT has started to address this need for age-friendly habitats, by building integrated

housing and care facilities for the elderly under one roof.

It has been working towards helping transformation of old age homes into composite shelters

which go beyond providing simply a roof and meeting the basic needs of the elderly. It

envisions residential complexes for elders offering a broader range of services and comfort,

such as those provided in Suryakhetra Sevasram Fakirpur, Keonjhar District (Odisha),

Suryakhetra Sevasram Lochapada Berhampur.

Conduct Health Awareness Program for Diseases like

Cancer, Leprosy, HIV/ AIDS & Other Critical Diseases

Good health is a precursor to a good education and a

financially independent life. But while a privileged few are

willing and able to afford home check-ups and expensive

treatments, most of the people living in semi-urban and rural

areas are complete strangers to professional health care

practices.

With this in mind, SKFECT launched the Community Health program, a multi-faceted

project that focuses on establishing sustainable practices and spreading awareness regarding

preventive and promotive health among the rural masses. Under this program, SKFECT

addresses the health care needs of poor and underprivileged members of various

communities through projects like Sakhyam & Mishra Nursing Home Cuttack & Swarna

Hospital.

Save Environment and Water Conservation

SKFECT has undertaken the new challenging task of generating awareness drive for

environmental protection, conservation of water and saving electricity. SKFECT has

launched a massive drive to save water. On the one hand it is enforcing the three pronged

strategy of reduce, reuse and recycle water, while on the other hand it is also making efforts

to preserve ground water by rainwater harvesting, preparing a plan for reverse boring and by

creating an awareness amongst the students, parents and teachers on how to save water at

home, in school and in society.

Suryakhetra Foundation Educational Charitable

Trust (SKFECT) undertook project “Green” to plant 100,000 Banyan Trees

in 5 Years across Odisha State to save the Environment.

Due to nature’s disgrace Odisha

State time and again badly affected

by Cyclone. 50% to 60% Trees of

Odisha destroyed by Cyclone hit

repeated. It is our social

responsibility to restore and

contribute towards nature and

environment.

With your help, we can

continue this effort. Join

this grassroots effort and

get your project “Green”.

A small seed becomes a big Tree, gives shed in summers, the leaves of the tree fall down to

provide us more sunlight and the atmosphere becomes more warm in the winters. They

provide shelter to the Birds, Animals and Human Beings too. Flowers on trees are a joy to

be seen. Their fruits satisfy our hunger. Many trees have medicinal values also. Trees are

the largest and longest living things on earth and they live much longer than animals. Trees

help in controlling temperature of the environment.

SKFECT started working

upon the Project “Green” and

planted 200 Banyan Trees

Banei, Sundergarh, Odisha to

start in the Year 2013-2014.

Relief activities during natural calamities

When disaster strikes, it spares no one. But the most

affected are the elderly as they are often physically

frail, making it difficult to run to safety or even in

accessing relief material where they often get

sidelined by younger and fitter individuals. SKFECT

works at rehabilitating these elderly, by not only

providing them relief material but also by providing

long term sustain ability options.

SKFECT has over the years worked hard towards

providing the elderly much needed relief during

disasters such as the Odisha floods Cyclone.
