A GENERAL
[1] ZoneA zone is a part of a building normally with the same end product(compulsory). Advice: a zone should also be oriented in the same way.
DC /DCEMotor with encoder. The encoder allows a more precise defining and adjusting of the position of the end products.
BacklashThe mechanical slack can be compensated for this parameter. This is the numberof pulses (DCE) or seconds (DC) before the blind starts to move the slats.
US modeShort press (< 0.5 s): starts a full UP or DOWN operation.Long press (> 0.5 s): starts to tilt, STOP when push button is released and starts a full UP or DOWN operation if the button is kept pressed.
European modeShort press (< 0.5 s): tiltLong press (> 0.5 s): starts to tilt, STOP when push button is released and starts a full UP or DOWN operation if the button is kept pressed.
Running time/lengthIt is the dimension of the end product. In the software, the running time refers to the DCE and the unit is second, the running length refers to the DCand the unit is mm.
Tilting time/lengthImpulses (DCE) or seconds (DC) for the slat to move from 90° to -90°.
End product typeProduct on which the motors are installed.

System overview
The animeo Compact comprises 3 levels. The Compact Sensor or the Outside Sensor Boxcollects the climate data such as solar intensity, temperature, wind and rain. This data is passed onto a Building Controller which controls up to 4 zones of a building (north, west, south and east side of the building). The drive commands for up to 4 shutters aregiven through the Motor Controller which evaluates the relevant group commands andthe local push buttons according to priority.

animeo Compact4-zone Building Controller DRM Ref. 1822189
A PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONThe Building Controller can be considered as the central control unit of the animeo Compact System, even if a certain level of intelligence is working inconjunction with the Motor Controller. The Building Controller can be mountedseparately from the user interface, e. g. the Building Controller is located in theelectrical cabinet and the Operating Interface or PC is located in the facilitymanager office.
Product Features1. The Building Controller controls up to 4 zones/façades.2. The Building Controller controls up to 1600 motors. Each zone controls
up to 100 Motor Controllers of the AC, DC or DCE type. Each Motor Controllercontrols 4 motors.
3. The Building Controller contains parameters for the automatic operation on each of the zones. These parameters can be set via the Compact Software or via the Operating Interface.
4a. Building Controller functionality on zone/façade level:• A meaningful set of functions and default parameters dedicated to the
type of end product selected, e.g. venetian blind, screen, roller shutter, …• Sun function with settable thresholds, delays, positions, angles in case
of venetian blinds and sensor assignments• Wind speed function with settable thresholds, delays and
sensor assignments• Rain/ice with settable delays
4b.Building Controller functionality on building level:• Timer with 2 times per zone per day, allowing configuration of an
UP or a DOWN command• A major alarm input, potential free contact, with configurable action
per zone/façade: UP or DOWN command• DCF compatible via the Compact Sensor or the Outside Sensor Box• The operational mode, standard or advanced (1)
• Password protection for the settings• An error output, potential free contact, normally closed, enabled in case
of e.g. sensor failure(1) When in advanced mode, after local command, central sun function commands are
no longer executed at local level until the Building Controller generates a “reset local to automatic command”. This decreases the necessary interactions of the local userwith the system, especially on days with alternating weather conditions.

animeo Compactanimeo Compact Sensor Ref. 9013432
A PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONThe Compact Sensor is a weather station. The wiring of the Compact Sensor issimplified because all sensors are implemented inside the device. The sensor ismostly suited for buildings where a complete animeo weather station with mastwould not be appropriate.
Product Features1. The Compact Sensor measures and transmits the sensor values to
the Building Controller. The information can be visualised via the OperatingInterface (Ref. 9013219) or the Compact Software (Ref. 9013433).
2. Integrated sensors• Three sun sensors with fixed orientation (90°, 180° and 270°)• Wind speed sensor with no moveable parts• Outside temperature sensor• Heated rain sensor• DCF receiver for time synchronisation• Mounting bracket for wall or pole mounting
1. Sun sensor (Value averaged over 30 s)2. Rain sensor (Do not touch or wipe after touching!)3. Temperature sensor4. Wind sensor (Caution! Very hot!)
B PART LIST1. Upper part2. Connecting clamp3. Bottom casing with board4. Screws 3.0 x 20 (4 pieces)5. Cover6. Mounting holder7. Screws M3 x 20 (2 pieces)8. Nuts M3 (2 pieces)
C MOUNTING[1] Keep 60 cm free space below the sensor for correct measurement
of wind speed. Keep 10 cm distance to metallic parts for DCF reception. The Compact Sensor should be mounted in a 45 degree angle.
The Compact Sensor should be checked regularly with regards to soiling and cleaned if necessary. Intense soiling can lead to malfunction: the rain signal can be continuously on, the wind sensor can be out of order, the sun cannot bedisplayed anymore.

GLOSSARY
EndproductRunning Time If not set properly, position orders (% and degrees)
will not be executed properly by the Motor Controllers.Running Time Up Measured time needed for the total movement
from the lower to the upper end limit of the blind.Running Time Down Measured time needed for the total movement
from the upper to the lower end limit of the blind.Tilting Time Measured for the total movement from the minimum
to the maximum angle of the slats.Backlash Mechanical gear offset in case of changing running
direction of the blind. It is the time between themotor getting powered and the physical movementof the blind. Mostly between 0.2 s and 0.5 s.
Endproduct End product selection (screen, awning, roller shutter, venetian blinds …). For venetian blinds, two typesare distinguished: the -90/+90 and the 0/90 degreesversion. If the blinds move up with slats in horizontalposition, the 0/90 degrees should be selected.
Building TimerEnable Use the building timer, yes or no.Day Select the desired days.Time1 The time period during which the blinds
Deactivated; will be blocked in the position defined under[start time], [end time] “Time1 Pos.”.
Time2 The time period during which the blindsDeactivated; will be blocked in the position defined under[start time], [end time] “Time2 Pos.”.
Time1 Pos. Is the blind position order that will be sentas soon as the time reaches the start time setfor the first time zone, see “Time1”.
Time2 Pos. Is the blind position order that will be sentas soon as the time reaches the start time setfor the second time zone, see “Time2”.
SensorsSelect Sensor System Select the used sensor system.Sensor Select sensor hardware: Compact Sensor or Outside

Zone Buttons Select only “Yes” if the Inside Sensor Boxis used in your system.
Sun Sun automatic function (per zone).Sensors Selection of the sun sensors for the zone displayed
at the bottom of the screen (Compact Sensorpossibilities: 1-3; Outside Sensor Box possibilities:1-8).
On Delay The sun intensity (Klux) should be above the “On Threshold (Klux)” level during at least the “On Delay (min)” before an order “Sun Position” (and "sun degrees" in case of venetian blinds) will be sent to the Motor Controllers.
On Threshold See “On Delay” description.Off Delay The sun intensity (Klux) should be below the
“Off Threshold (Klux)” level during at least the “Off Delay (min)” before the sun function is deactivated.
Off Threshold See “Off Delay” description.Sun Position Sun automatic blind position in %.Sun Degrees If the tilting time is set properly, 0 degrees
corresponds to horizontal, 90 degrees to vertical slatposition.
Wind Wind security function.Sensors Selection of the used wind sensors for the zone
displayed at the bottom of the screen (CompactSensor: 1 sensor possible; Outside Sensor Boxpossibilities: 1-2).
On Threshold See “On Delay” description. On Delay The measured wind speed should be above the
“On Threshold” level during at least the “On Delay (s)”before an up order is given. Afterwards it is no longerpossible to control locally, sun orders will e. g. no longer be executed.
Off Delay The wind speed should be below the “Off Threshold”level during at least the “Off Delay (min)” before thewind alarm is deactivated.

5Rain/Ice Rain/Ice automatic (per zone).Rain Rain automatic: enabled/disabled.On Delay If it rains since at least the “On Delay” the rain
security function will be enabled, the blinds will move up. Afterwards it is no longer possible to control locally, sun orders will e. g. no longerbe executed.
Off Delay If it has stopped raining since at least the “Off Delay (min)” the rain alarm is deactivated.
Ice Ice automatic: Enabled/Disabled.Threshold If the measured temperature is below “Threshold“
since “On Delay“ and it rained the last [xx] hours(Rain History), then the ice security will be enabled.Afterwards it is no longer possible to control locally, sun orders will e.g. no longer be executed.
On Delay See “Threshold“ description.Off Delay If “Off Delay“ is set to infinity (default) the ice
security function has to be deactivated manually by disabling/enabling again the ice function. For any other “Off Delay” value, the ice function will be deactivated if the temperature was above the threshold since at least the “Off Delay”.
Rain History See “Threshold” description.
SettingsSelect Language Language setting.Date and Time Date and time setting.Password Settings Use a password.Set Password Setting of the password.Enable Password Enable password protection so that the above
parameters such as delays, thresholds and runningtimes cannot be accessed without a password.
Number of Zones Corresponds mostly to the facade orientation (east, south, west, …). In each zone, only one type of endproduct can appear.
Total Zones Total used zones: 1…4.Major Alarm Major alarm input on the Building Controller.Enabled Major alarm input enabled: yes/no.Position The position the blinds will move to if the major
alarm input is activated (normally closed):completely up (0%) or completely down (100%). As long as the input is active, it is not possible tocontrol locally, e. g. sun orders will not be executed.
Performance Mode Behaviour of the system: priorities between localcontrol and central comfort functions such as sun aremanaged differently according to mode.
Standard: Local Control Each time that an automatic function such as e.g. sun is triggered by the Building Controller, it is (re-)executed by the Motor Controllers in thecorresponding zone.
Perf.: Timer, Loc. Cont. Each time that an automatic function such as e. g. sun is triggered by the Building Controller, the Motor Controller checks if there was a recent localinteraction by the office user. If yes, the sun orderis no longer executed until the next “Reset Time” is executed. This mode favorises mostly the officeuser comfort.
Reset Time See “Performance Mode” description.Output Mode Selection of the kind of output signals.IB+ Four wire connection between Building Controller
and Motor Controller. For Motor Controller devicesfrom the animeo range.
IB Three wire connection between Building Controllerand Motor Controller. For Motor Controller devicesfrom the Inteo or CD range.
RK Three wire connection between Building Controllerand Motor Controller (additional hardware interfacerequired). For simple relay boxes.
