Project focusDeFishGear focuses on:

• The problem of polluting the sea withmarine litter and the economic impact oncoastal communities

• The monitoring and reduction of thequantity of microplastics in the marineenvironment and their effects on marineorganisms (fish)organisms (fish)

• Setting up a system for collection andrecycling of derelict fishing gear, includingy g g g , gthe so called ghost nets, and collection offloating litter and litter from the seabottom, caught in the nets while fishing.
