Analyse Promotional Package To begin with the poster of “Insidious” features the same star actor on the cover (Ty Simpkins). This helps to display that this actor is a main character in the film. Furthermore the colours of the poster match those displayed in the film trailer. For example in this screenshot a prominent colour is a pale grey tinge that seems to wash throughout this entire shot. The same type of colouring can be seen in the poster. This creates a consistency to the look of the films promotional material. The similarities also subtly help the audience recognise the films promotional material along with the typography itself. Pale grey colour. One of the main characters in the film. Same font used in trailer. Use of a prominent line in the trailer. Same use of setting.

Analyse Promotional Package

To begin with the poster of “Insidious” features the same star actor on the cover (Ty Simpkins). The similarities also

subtly help the audience recognise the films promotional material along with the typography itself.

The poster ties itself further to the film with its use of font. The lines on the poster that read “From the makers of paranormal activity”, “From the directors of Saw” and “a James Wan film” all use the same font that is displayed here in the trailer.

The poster also uses the tag line “it’s not the house that’s haunted”. This is a pivotal line in the trailer and film, its inclusion on the poster strikes a sense of mystery and fear in those who see the trailer and poster. This reaction may cause them to go and see the film. The poster also uses the same setting to relate it to the film. Once again this just creates a consistency between the two mediums.

The same setting featured in the poster.

A main character form insidious is featured on the front cover; like the poster this uses a main character from the film to indicate his importance to the film. The same grey tinge has been used on the main image, this helps the magazine cover to relate to the poster and film trailer as they all use the same colour scheme on their shots. A similar if not the same font that says “insidious” has been used on the magazine and in the trailer, this is another factor that connects the three materials. A small degree of red can be seen in the trailer. This colour is replicated in the “Insidious” text on the magazine.

Character from films used as main front cover image. Grey tinge used on this image.

This is the same font that was used on the poster and trailer.

The colour red is also used in the trailer.
