FRONT COVER ANALYSISTHE MASTHEAD is in bold bright red colour so that attracts audience. The colour red is normally used to associate something dangerous. The colour is the main colour in the cover this may stereotype the hip hop genre. The masthead stands for New Musical Express however it sound like the word ‘enemy’ this associated with rebelling as hip hop music is again stereotyped as bad influence and giving bad message to younger generation.

THE Header gives the readers something extra which makes the magazine little more special

THE SELL LINES/COVER LINES

Gives the readers and idea on what is going to be in the magazine with out the need to go through the magazine.

THE MAIN IMAGE-Its dominating the page. The image of the star is a direct shot .it looks straight at the audience with a positive attitude.

THE MAIN COVER LINE.is the name of the star and its taking a major space on the page ,this is important because many people may not know this celebrity .

These are essential as it ensures the reader firstly that is not free and secondly that is the latest magazine that NME has published.

THE FOOTER- summarises the celebrities that are on the magazine. This I to attract people that are fans of these stars to buy the magazine.

USE OF A PULL QUOTE is appropriate as it connects with the readers and make them feel as if the star is talking to them directly.

BACKGROUND

The background is very colourful and attractive. The use of graphite wall represents again the ‘hip hop’ type of music as troubling and law breaking and also giving out the wrong message.

USE OF A FLASH-(offering something extra to T.A)

Gives the readers extra information to make the magazine seem like it offers something extra special. The flash is in red which is eye catching and stands out from the cover.

The target audience is anyone who are interested in music especially those who are interested in hip hop and urban since Dizzee Rascal is an urban singer.

Gender; the magazine is more likely to attract male gender because of the music type Dizee Rascal performs also because of the hip hop type of music the magazine represents.

Age; the magazine is more suited for late teen ages to late 20s due to the star represented and the type of music it represents.

Main imageThe main image is dominating the page. It follows the magazine colour scheme which is red ,black and white. The position Cheryl Cole is taken photo of is a mid – shot but a direct shot as she is looking straight at the reader.

Background The background of this image is very unique and powerful because it’s the rain in the image seems 3D this emphasizes that the magazine is unique and different from other magazines.

Sell lineThe sell line is also following the color scheme .The name and the adjective describing the star is in bold and capitals as there may be people that don’t know her ,The adjective of the star ‘ROCKS’ is taking a big amount of space this is so it attracts audience and also to emphasize the magazine its self ROCKS.

Background The background is powerful as it makes the masthead stand out but also the band because they are wearing the opposite colour of white which is black. Also the background is following the colour scheme of black and white. As those colours are associated with rock and punk music which is what type of music this magazine covers.
