The banner background is red because red stands out and also fits with the colour scheme of the school. Therefore when the readers see this, they will automatically relate it with Plumstead Manor/Negus. I used the

Plumstead manor/Negus school logo as the logo on the magazine because then the readers will know that this a magazine for that certain school.

I chose the heading for my magazine to be ‘Common Room Craziness’. The reason I chose this is because it uses alliteration and is fairly catchy. The use of the word craziness shows that it is fairly informal and will grab the reader’s attention.

I will have a yellow background. Firstly the colour yellow will catch the readers eye and maybe persuade them to read it, also yellow is a very bright, happy colour and the article is aiming to be positive, therefore I want to give it a positive feel with the colour yellow.

I chose my masthead to be called ‘SUCCESS @ NEGUS’. The reason I chose this as the title of my school magazine is because it represents the positivity of the school with the use of the word ‘Success’. Also the ‘@’ sign gives the reader a sense of informality, therefore making the reader feel more at home. Finally, I made sure I included ‘Negus’ in the title because it is the name of the sixth form and people will relate to it.

I took a group shot as my second photograph to represent the socialising that goes on in Negus and to represent the fun people can have at Negus as well as working.

My preliminary Task analysis

The first image to appear on my magazine is a mid-shot. The mid-shot represents the studying which goes on at Negus, as the person’s facial expressions are very serious and this shows that they are willing to work. The fact that it is a mid-shot that has been used means that the readers can see the facial expressions of the person doing work as well as what they are actually doing.
