DESCRIPTION

This slideshare shows the skeleton for a PPT-to-movie demo that I do with students. I am using a video from my own ePort to do this demo. The purpose of the final video (see video at https://bit.ly/eport-story) is to introduce an ePortfolio where I reflect back on my transition to digitized first year writing courses. In my current approach to teaching first year writing, I ask students to write and create for multiple, public audiences using a variety of digital platforms. While this has always been a "request" of my pedagogy, the creation of public writing opportunities was not always very an easy feat. Digital cultures offer us new opportunities for public writing pedagogies. Since the first semester of my first year writing course (in a two-course sequence) revolves most closely around ePortfolios, I thought it was only appropriate that I use an ePortfolio to compose this pedagogical story.

The digital stories and projectscollected here serve as models of andpoints of discussion about digitalwriting. Contrary to what manypeople may say, first year collegewriters have important intellectual, social, and political contributions tomake and are not mere passivevessels waiting for the imprint oftheir professors' rules and formulasfor writing. We celebrate and salutethat energy here. 3. Student ProjectsPretty for a Black Girl #SOSVenezuela 4.
