The Oxford Brookes IT department was in need of assistance in exploring the best ways to proceed with change management. They already had a process exercise in transition but wanted to grasp a solid understanding of what a workable change process should look like. They wanted to know what challenges would arise in implementing adoption and which supporting functions would be required.

The department also needed to get all staff on-board with the changes happening with the introduction of formal IT Service Management processes into the University.

What did Quanta provide?

ITIL® coaching - one dayTailored ITIL® implementation sessionThirdBrainTM for ITIL Apollo 13 simulation

How Quanta helped…All was delivered within two days: on day one, the ITIL coaching session was delivered to the key stakeholders within Oxford Brookes which helped the team to think strategically.

The stakeholders gained a better and more confident understanding of what ITIL believes change management can look like, and most importantly, they explored which processes were needed for Oxford Brookes to achieve this change. It was about providing assistance, advice and guidance around their change management process.

A tailored ITIL solution was provided for day two. Adam White-Bower, Quanta’s ITIL expert was brought in on the review and planning meeting for ITIL’s implementation. Stakeholders responsible for the direct running of the change process and those that

required an understanding of the benefits of change management attended. A more hands-on approach meant delegates could discuss the results from the first day’s consultancy. This allowed them to come away with the knowledge to explain what change would look like, practicalities, and where the benefits may lie.

In addition, Quanta ran its ThirdBrainTM simulation, Apollo 13 for five sessions which made up part of the initial user by-in process. This was aimed to get Oxford Brookes’ staff committed and aware of the changes that were coming.

And the benefits…Oxford Brookes’ IT team successfully implemented change management and an agreed change process was enabled.

After a short period of time, Oxford Brookes had already noticed ITIL’s positive impact on the business.

“Adam was an excellent facilitator of the workshops. He had a depth of knowledge and was very well able to communicate his expertise. He managed to get a high degree of interaction and participation from the delegates. Many people commented on how much they enjoyed the workshops.” Adrian Kent, Head of Information Systems, Oxford Brookes
