Anyone who practices meditation wants something deeper on their next session. Some experienced meditators often search for new and better techniques to deepen their meditation practice. Deep meditation is accessing the incredible state of consciousness.

It is very hard to attain it, but once you do, you will receive a lot of benefits. In

spite of the many advantages, it brings, we only have a few who are able to reach

perfection in meditation. Perhaps the most experienced meditators can

achieve this level.

What benefit does deep meditation do to us? If you don’t learn to meditate deeply, you will continue to see inconsistent results. You will continue to wonder whether there is something that you are missing while meditating since you can’t fully see or feel its outcome and benefits.

So, how do we reap the benefits of deep meditation? What techniques do we

have?The first thing is to start by

relaxing your mind and body.

Free yourself of stress and tension. Try to get into a mind-body state with a clear and quiet mind. The more still your

mind, the more powerful you will be.

The steps of deep meditation are as follows:

1. The countdown is a classic procedure from guided meditation and hypnosis. Pour all your focus on the countdown and count from 5 to 1 or 10 to 1 or 100 to 1. Watch the numbers one by one as you go into deep meditation.

2. Focus on breathing deeply and slowly. Breathing slowly is like sending a direct message to the oldest parts of your brain. Slowing down your breathing will bring more improved results.

The more consciously you breathe slowly, your brain feels safe and you enter into a state of peacefulness and relaxation.

3. This is the most powerful tool for a profound, deep meditation and it is called moment to moment awareness. You tend to be more relaxed while paying attention to the physical sensations in your body.

You focus on what is at the moment, what is more real. We may be experiencing some stress in visualizing internal images of objects we want. We may be scared of things that we do not want to visualize but we can’t avoid them.

Unconsciously, you will feel some tension, but when we reduce the focus and switch it to the sensations in your body, we tend to be more relaxed. This is “increased” awareness which is the doorway to deep meditation.

4. It pays to read a book about meditation for beginners since not knowing a thing will make all your efforts go down the drain. Having an idea will help you understand what meditation is and how it works.

You may be able to perform better into experiencing deep meditation. You may also use instructional DVDs or CDs that can acquaint you step by step.

The thing that matters is how you approach your meditation and your life as a whole. Regardless of the type of technique, primarily it is what you do when you are not meditating that makes the difference.

There may be new techniques that may give you a boost but once you have learned how to meditate, the best

means to get a deeper meditation is to use the same technique with a slight

variation.
