•Indians needed to conserve water so that they could:

‣Drink

‣Cook

‣Grow corn, squash, and other crops

Water for Farming

•Indians watered their crops by:

‣ Building canals for irrigation

‣ Using rocks as mulch to trap dew at night

How I Use Water

•Drinking

•Taking a shower or bath

•Brushing my teeth

•Washing my hands

•Flushing the toilet

•Cooking

Why Do We Conserve Water?

•To make sure that we don’t run out

•To keep down the price that we pay the water company

How I Can Use Less Water

•Take shorter showers

•Turn off the faucet when brushing my teeth

•Flush the toilet only once

•Fix leaky faucets

How We’re Like the Indians

•All people need to conserve water:

‣So we have water for the future

‣So we can maintain the way we live
