‘Peter, Rachael, time to get up.’ ‘Yah’, shouted Peter, his father was taking him and his older sister Rachael to the zoo ‘Rachael, get up’, screamed Peter at Rachael excitedly. ‘Okay, Okay’, yawned Rachael as she got up. ‘Get your hats and water bottles, it’s going to be a hot day today.’, said Peter’s father.

‘Okay Dad’, said Peter and Rachael together. ‘Quickly now, we don’t want to miss the bus.’, said Peter’s father once they had finished packing a backpack.

They ran down and caught the bus just in time.

‘Where here’, said Peter as the bus pulled up out side the

zoo. Peter hopped off with his father and sister and they walked in.

‘let’s go’, said Peter’s father before their tour started, and they went to find

their group.

‘We don’t want to lose our group’. They walked through the zoo seeing the lions, the tigers, the seals and the giraffes.

But Peter wanted to see the reptiles.

‘We will now move on to the elephants’, drowned the tour

guide for peters group. Then Peter spotted the

zoo’s reptile house. He waited for the right

time, and then, while his father and sister were too busy looking at the elephants he darted straight for it.

Peter ran right inside where it started to get darker and darker.

Peter wasn’t fond of the dark, and even though he liked reptiles, he had never been near them alone. Peter was starting to get scared, he didn’t like the reptiles.

He thought the lizards, the snakes, the crocodiles, and the spiders were scary, and he wished he had never run off on his own.

‘Peter, Peter. Where are you?’, came a voice from further down the tunnel. It was Rachael.

‘Rachael’, shrieked Peter with joy as he ran to her.

‘There you are. Dad and I have been looking everywhere for you’, said Rachael. She then got out her phone and rang Peter’s dad. When Peter’s dad came, Peter was very happy. ‘Don’t run off Like that again.’ said Peter’s father.

Before going home, they had another look at the reptiles, only Peter wasn’t scared this time because he had his family with him.

After they had finished they raced back to the bus and headed for home, and Peter had learned that there is safety in numbers.
