On 25th June 1852, a child called Antoni

Gaudí was born near Reus, in Catalonia.

While he was a child, he suffered from an illness.

This caused him to spend a lot of time alone and a lot of

time in contact with

nature.

He grew up and he

became a very famous architect.

Gaudí' s originality was at first ridiculed by his friends..

His most famous work is

“La sagrada familia”

He spent the last few years of his life living in the crypt of the

" Sagrada Familia" .

On 7 June 1926 Gaudí was hit by a tram.

Because of his ragged attire and empty pockets, many cab drivers refused to pick him up.

He was taken to a paupers' hospital

in Barcelona. Nobody recognized Gaudí until his friends

found him the next day.

He died three days later on 10 June 1926, at age 73, and was interred at La Sagrada Família

When he died, the Sagrada Familia was not finished, and people from Barcelona went on working on this wonderful masterpiece.

Its completion is planned for 2026
