What is an e-portfolio?

An e-portfolio system enables you to organise and present different collections

of evidence online. It provides evidence of your achievements and progress.

You personally manage your e-portfolio and you can decide to share selected

assets with tutors, module leaders, colleagues or even friends external to the

institution.

PebblePad is the name of the e-portfolio system being used at City University.

PebblePad supports your Personal Development Planning by providing you with

a flexible way to plan, record and reflect on your learning and development.

Task

In groups of 5 spend 5 minutes discussing what

you could put into your e-portfolio.

Prepare to give feedback to the group on one

item selected.

Why use e-portfolios?

Why use PebblePad?

To encourage you to reflect on your experience of your placement

experience.

To keep a record of your learning by recording learning experiences and

new skills and achievements gained through work, education,

volunteering, hobbies and interests.

To demonstrate the growth of your knowledge and skills and to showcase

your achievements.

To engage in a dialogue with your tutor to help develop your

understanding of issues and concepts.

What’s in it for you!

An online portfolio is accessible from different locations.

An online portfolio is adaptable to other needs ..it can remain

‘live’ longer than a paper copy. You will get a free PebblePad

account for a year after you graduate.

You can share parts of your e-portfolio to get feedback from

your tutors/module leaders.

What's in it for you!

With an e-portfolio you can use multi-media elements.

You can re-use different parts of your e-portfolio for

different purposes.

You will need to keep a CPD portfolio as part of your

professional development this is just getting you into

practice for this.

Logging into PebblePad

• Log into Moodle (http://moodle.city.ac.uk)

• Click on Launch PebblePad from the PebblePad block on your MyMoodle page

• This opens up your PebblePad account

Reflective cycle prompts

Experience: Provide the name of the recent therapy session or event. Describe the

session/experience

Reaction: What did this session make you feel?

Analysis: What would you want to change and why? What has this session taught

you?

Planning: What do you need to learn or find out before the next event?

Date: Date of the event

In section 3 you may record any reflection you might have had about writing the

reflection and you can also record the amount of time spent on the activity.
