camp recount

On the 18th of March the Year 8’s went to Camp Adair and we done an activity called the high swing.

First we did a number off to make sure everyone was there. Then we ran over to the high swing and we sat down on the green grass. When we were sitting down the instructors told us what to do and how to do it.

Then one person went up at a time. I was about the 7th one up. When I got there I could feel the wind wobble the platform I was standing on. There was an instructor already up there. It was nearly time for me to jump off.

When it was time for me to jump, I walked up to the narrow plank of wood. The instructor moved back and counted down from 3. “3, 2, 1” and then I leaped off. I was scared but I jumped anyway. It was scary at first but then it was awesome. The instructor down the bottom asked me to cross my legs and then he got the ladder. He took me off the rope and I stepped down the ladder.

After that Jarred went up and I watched him come down. “WOW it was as fast as a cheetah”. Then I took off my harness and I gave it to the next person. There were about 11 people in the group and 4 of them didn’t do it.

Finally we ran out of time. Everyone took off their harness and put them back where they got them from. We got all our gear. Then we said thank you to the instructor and we went to the next activity.

It was awesome and I would love to do it again if I go there another time.
