AlTrac 6482 OBU is the on-board unit available for ETCS Level 1 and Level 2. This OBUsystem enables interoperability on European lines and performs safe supervision of trainmovement with high availability.

The on-board system calculates the maximum permissible speed and the relevant braking curves. It monitors the current speed and initiates automatic braking if the permissible speed is exceeded.

The AlTrac 6482 OBU provides complete cab signalling by means of the Driver-Machine Inter-face (DMI) unit displaying information on speed limits and signal aspects in advance.

The OBU provides connections with peripheral components, with the brake actuator, with Train Interface Units (TIU) and with on-board equipment of national Automatic Train Control/Protec-tion (ATC/ATP) systems by means of various interfaces and via standardised bus systems.

The connection between national Specifi c Transmission Module (STM) systems and the OBU is implemented by the Profi bus interface which is compliant with the UNISIG specifi cations.

The AlTrac 6482 OBU can be optimised for the operational and commercial needs of theindividual customer.

The AlTrac 6482 OBU is designed as the on-board equipment enabling trains to operate on lines set up with ETCS Level 1 or ETCS Level 2 as well as on lines with a national train protec-tion system, e.g. via STM solutions.
