Alpha CD50 – storage combination boiler

Compact ‘all-in-one’ designgives installers the best ofboth worlds

The first wall-hung condensingstorage-combi available in the UK, the AlphaCD50 matches a traditional system’s higherflow rate whilst also offering the benefit ofhot water on demand, whenever andwherever you want it.

Ideal for larger homes withbath and shower

The Alpha CD50 condensing storagecombi is designed to satisfy the hot waterand heating requirements of the larger homewhilst reducing energy consumption. Whenthe store is fully charged an equivalentdomestic hot water output of 50kW gives aflow rate of up to 18 litres per minute atapprox 55˚C - 60˚C, enough to fill anaverage bath in about 3 to 5 minutes.

Unique automatic flow regulator means hot waternever runs out

After filling a bath – if there is still ademand for hot water, the CD50’s automaticflow regulator controls the flow to keep thewater hot. The Alpha CD50 will thereforealways provide hot water no matter howlong the hot tap is left open, unlike someother storage combis.

Fast recovery

When the hot tap is turned off, theCD50’s powerful heat exchanger fullyrecharges the store in about 3 minutes. Thisquick recovery is achieved by using a doublewound stainless steel coil to provide abigger than usual heating surface area. Thesize of the coil is also designed to maintaincontinuous hot water delivery at a usabletemperature faster than it can be drawn off.

their own telescopic CD EASY-FLUE withboth sections brilliant white and the flueterminal factory fitted. Alpha CD EASY-FLUE is for simple horizontal flues andis available in two sizes – 0.5m and1.0m. The telescopic innerand outer ducts slidetogether to make the correctlength so there is nomeasuring, no cutting andno making good as twosealing collars areprovided. HORIZONTAL FLUES

VERTICAL FLUES

Maximum horizontal flue length (afterthe boiler turret) is 12 metres.Allow 1.3 metre of flue length for each900 bend, 0.9 metre of flue length foreach 450 bend.

Maximum vertical flue length is 15metres.900 bends are not to be used. Allow 0.9metre of flue for each 450 bend.

Maximum straight vertical flue length(V1) is 15 metres.

Two 450 bends are equivalent to 1.8metre of staight flue. The maximumflue length (V1+V2+V3) with two 450

bends is 13.2 metres.

A simple horizontal flue mayhave a straight length (L1) ofup to 12 metres.

A 900 bend is equivalent to 1.3 metre ofstraight flue. Maximum length of flue(L1+L2) with 900 bend is 10.7 metres. A 900 bend off the top of the boiler angled

at 450 to the back wall with a 450 bendattached to it.The maximum flue length (L1) using one450 bend is 11.1 metres.

For vertical flues purchase boileronly and the relevant fluecomponents necessary.

Allow 0.9m for each 450 bend. 900

Flue sealing collarTwo flue sealing collars are included with every telescopic EASY-FLUE, which can beused for ‘making good’ or to allow internal fixing of the flue on high rise buildings.

External ‘make good’Cut the 110mm diameter hole (a 107mmcore drill gives the correct size hole). Fitthe flue sealing collar over the flue onthe outside as shown in diagram A.

Internal ‘make good’The flue sealing collar can be fitted onthe inside wall to make good the finisheg. to wallpaper as in diagram B.

Internal flue fixingWhere access to the outside is difficult(eg. on high rise buildings) the fluesealing collar allows internal fitting ofthe collar as shown in diagram C. Drill a127mm diameter hole (using astandard 5” core drill), locate andsecure the sealing collar onto the outerduct of the flue immediately before theterminal. Push the flue assemblythrough the 127mm diameter flue holeso that the collar passes completelythrough the wall. Then pull the flue

assembly back into its correctposition. Visually check that the

collar is sealing the outside walland that it does not restrict

any of the openings.
