the beginning.

Maison du Terroir et du Patrimoine, La Cadière d’Azur July and August, the Maison du Terroir et du Patrimoine, in La Cadière d’Azur, will be offering visits of the museum in English, every Friday at 10.30 a.m. We also welcome English-speaking visitors during the usual opening hours. At the center of the provençal and medieval village La Cadière d’Azur, inside a newly restored 16th century chapel, you will find an exhibition about the geological, archeological and cultural heritage of the area. The geological heritage shows the role of the Beausset basin in the development of modern geology. Moreover, we have more than 300 fossils of rudists, from the Cretaceous period. The museum also displays objects from numerous archeological sites, dating back to prehistory, the gallo-roman and the medieval periods. The modern cultural heritage is also represented through the evolution of housing both in villages and the countryside At the moment, it also hosts a temporary exhibition about Cabinets of Curiosities, which were places where, during the 16th and 17th centuries, numerous rare and strange objects were collected and displayed, according to their place in one of the three kingdoms: the animal, the plant and the mineral kingdoms. This exhibition enables us to understand the concerns of curious people in bygone centuries.
