All-inclusive Travel in IcelandDay 1.

A private guide from Luxury Adventures will meet you at the airport upon your arrival, driving you to your hotel. After check-in, the rest of your afternoon is free. Dinner is at a selected restaurant.

Day 2.

Next morning, your personal guide will pick you up at your hotel for a drive around Reykjavik and its vicinity, including a mountaintop destination offering panoramic views of the area. The drive continues into the countryside, the next stop is at Thingvellir, the site of the original Althing, considered the oldest active democratic parliament in the world. This area is noted for its spectacular lava formations. After having explored the area, you will be invited to go snowmobiling or dog sledding, conditions permitting. We then proceed to Geysir, the “geyser” which gave its name to all other erupting hot springs. We then continue to Gullfoss, a spectacular series of waterfalls. We overnight at nearby hotel, with dinner on premises.

Day 3.

The next morning we drive from Geysir to the south coast; then eastward with stops at scenic places such as Jokulsarlon, the Ice Lagoon. Upon reaching this area, we take a boat trip on the lagoon for spectacular viewing. We overnight in a nearby hotel. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 4.

The following morning we fly you in a private plane to Lake Myvatn. This area is world-renowned for its avian life: some local species of duck are found nowhere else in the world. Experience lava fields – some overgrown with incredibly soft moss – and pseudocraters. The lava fields conceal some underground hot springs, where some of the locals are said to go skinny dipping. You might like to join in! We then continue to the Namafjall/Krafla area. This is an active volcanic zone, very rich in color and in geological formations. Overnight in the north. Dinner advised by your guide.

Day 5.

The next morning we head for Husavik, a fishing village on the north coast. There you will be invited on a whale watching excursion (available from May to mid-September). An alternative option might be extended exploration of the Lake Myvatn area and visit to scenic Godafoss (The “Fall of the Gods”). Your driver/guide will explain. We continue to Akureyri, the chief community of the North. Overnight in the north. Dinner at a selected restaurant.

Day 6.

The next day after a brief sightseeing drive of Akureyri we fly you west to Stykkisholmur. Take a boat ride in Breidafjordur, a bay dotted with a myriad of islands. The captain is likely to help you collect sea shells, crabs and other sea creatures: you get to taste your catch. Afterwards you might explore a small Icelandic fishing village, Stykkisholmur. We overnight in a nearby hotel. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 7.

The following day we will go to the Snaefellsjokull glacier, the setting for Jules Verne’s Journey to the Center of the Earth. Then we head back to Reykjavik. Once back at your hotel, it’s time to freshen up because this evening’s dinner will be hosted at the home of an Icelandic artist. He and his wife will serve a full dinner in this very special setting. After the meal you may be invited to view his gallery.

Day 8.

You will have the option of sleeping longer the following morning. After check-out around noon, your driver will take you to the Blue Lagoon, a geothermal pool and spa set in a lava field, with beaches of black sand. An in-pool massage awaits: you can’t find a better way to relax. Afterwards, your driver will take you to the airport and escort you to the check-in counter. After a few days in all-inclusive travel in Iceland, you will return home ready for whatever life throws your way.
