People ask me why i love Nottingham and what it offers me as a dj and a producer, well for a start its right in the middle of the country so its easy for me to get to other cities, London, Cardiff etc for gigs or studio sessions. Alot of the studios i use are pretty close to Nottingham, Sheffield and Leicester being two of them. Also we have on our door step the confetti school of recording, i myself have been through the collage and is a pool of great teaching and knowledge in my field of work. Club wise we have the mighty Gatecrasher Ultra bringing us world class production and djs. I am lucky enough to have held a residencey at this venue for over two years and have played alongside some of the worlds biggests acts producers and djs, such as Faithless, Calvin played alongside some of the worlds biggests acts producers and djs, such as Faithless, Calvin Harris, Pete Tong, Sydney Samson and many many more. I have played in alot of venues all over the world and Gatecrasher Ultra is my favourite, when the mainroom is going off there is no place like it on earth, add the dancers, the co2 cannons, confetti showers and it realy makes the dancefloor a special place to be.

Every week in NME we bang on about how brilliant these bands are, and this is an amazing opportunity to see them all on the same bill. Two Door Cinema Club are one of the most exciting live bands in the world right now, Metronomy recorded arguably the album of the year, Tribes are the future of British indie music and Azealia Banks is, well, pretty much the most exciting new act on the planet. “How are you guys feeling about playing the Oxjam event today?

It’s really nice to be supporting the Oxfam cause alongside a great group of musicians with what we all love to do best!”

Who are your main influences Kagoule?

Lucy “the Beatles obviously! I’d say Foals and Nirvana As well”

Cai “my main one would be the older Biffy Clyro stuff with a bit of Nirvana”

Lawrence Lawrence “it’s got to be Modest Mouse at the moment, I’d love to see them, also Queens Of The Stone Age as well but collectively we have a wide taste so we bring in all our influences which makes Kagoule ”

Kagoule, anything you’re promoting in particular? “We have our four track E.P out at the moment which is called Son, the best way get hold of it is to download it through our SoundCloud page which you can find through our Facebook or come to one of our gigs and you can get a copy off us for a pound!”

In the month of October something new and exciting was ready to hit Beeston, after much success in the past all over the UK on Saturday the 22nd of October Oxjam took over Beeston in success in the past all over the UK on Saturday the 22nd of October Oxjam took over Beeston in Nottingham. In a nut shell Oxjam is a volunteer ran event spread over Britain showcasing the local culture and talent across a range of different venues in the town it is held, after the event all the money and proceeds go towards the Oxfam charity. When I arrived I was pleasantly surprised to see the diversity and range of acts covering acoustic, jazz, Rock, comedy right through to Poetry, the event catered for all age groups, and with 50 acts to choose from finding something that would take your fancy was a piece of cake!

For me that piece of cake was the acts that graced the stage at Barton house in the afternoon For me that piece of cake was the acts that graced the stage at Barton house in the afternoon Period of the Saturday all day event. The artists in particular were Bystanders, Kagoule, Great British Weather and Saint Raymond. On stepping foot into the venue it seemed very deceiving as British Weather and Saint Raymond. On stepping foot into the venue it seemed very deceiving as I was greeted by a contemporary reception area with its range of various works of modern art, as I continued too delve deeper my first impressions of the inside were moody and gritty, a perfect setting for the mass of young musical talent that were to pass through its door’s. After a short time of me looking round the venue the acts started to appear ready to set up. I had the pleasure of working alongside the acts throughout the day and the sheer passion and dedication from these artists indicates that the future of Nottingham’s young music scene is thriving and will continue to grow. In Particular Cai, Lucy and Lawrence from Kagoule who played a truly continue to grow. In Particular Cai, Lucy and Lawrence from Kagoule who played a truly captivating set and currently are in the running to gain a spot at Rock city supporting Dog Is Dead, their music I can only describe as hard hitting chorus’s and elements of early post grunge mixed with My Bloody Valentine. I had the chance of having a brief interview with the band before their set

Saint Raymond is destined for success. I managed to Raymond is destined for success. I managed to catch Callum Burrows from Saint Raymond who expressed his positivity of helping the Oxfam cause through the gathering of people with a love of live music and a collaborative effort from the local artists and volunteers’.

Q - How long have you been doing photography?

A - I have been interested in photography since I was very young. My father was a keen photographer and he taught me taught me the basics. Later, I completed City & Guilds qualifications in a number of disciplines. Although my passion has always been wildlife and landscape photography, I have also undertaken wedding and portrait work.

Q - Where did all begin?

A - In my early married life, my wife and I used to spent much time in the Lake District where I used to shoot A - In my early married life, my wife and I used to spent much time in the Lake District where I used to shoot landscapes using 35mm and medium format cameras. More recently we have spent time in Africa and India and Finland where I was able to indulge my passion for wildlife photography.

Q - You are renowned for shooting animals in the wild which is your favourite and why?

A - All wildlife interests me, but my favourite animals have to be the leopard and the cheetah. The leopard is so A - All wildlife interests me, but my favourite animals have to be the leopard and the cheetah. The leopard is so elusive and well camouflaged that even spotting one is a triumph. To have actually had the privilege to take photographs of this magnificent animal has been particularly rewarding. The cheetah is perhaps the most endangered cat in the Masai Mara and once again, I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to photograph this most sleek and elegant animal.

Q - Have you had any close calls with any of your subjects in the wild?

A - When in the Masai Mara we are surrounded by wildlife at all times and it is important that the animals are A - When in the Masai Mara we are surrounded by wildlife at all times and it is important that the animals are treated with the respect they deserve. We were once photographing a herd of elephants when one began to charge! When you see elephant on the TV they are big, but when one is bearing down on you I can assure you they are absolutely massive!! Another time I was at the mess tent ready to welcome guests to breakfast when a cheetah walked right past me through the centre of the camp. Buffaloes and hippos grazing outside outr tent at night have also caused a little unease on occasions! Fortunately the staff at camp have had the expertise to ensure our safety.

Q - You do a lot of charity work which charity is closest to your heart and why?

A - My charity work is close to my heart. The Guda Dida A - My charity work is close to my heart. The Guda Dida primary school in Meru, Kenya is in desperate need of support. The children happily walk miles everyday to receive an education which takes place in a crude building with termite infested floors. To date, I have donated money from the sales of my photographs to buy much needed equipment and when we go on safari we take basic essential items such as pens, pencils, we take basic essential items such as pens, pencils, paper, calculator and rulers to support the children who are so desperate to learn. I feel this is important as these children are the future of Kenya and will be responsible for protecting the unique, but fragile environment in which they live. I also support ‘Lion Aid’ which undertakes sterling work to protect the lion population which is in sharp decline. It also aims to raise population which is in sharp decline. It also aims to raise awareness of how lions are endangered and to encourage conservation.

Q - Do you have any new plans or projects for 2012 ?

A - In January, I am moving into a larger studio at Edwinstowe Arts & Crafts Centre and in August am taking two groups on safari to Kenya. I also hope to spend more time photographing British wildlife.
