TRABOCCO

We’re thrilled to report that Trabocco Kitchen and

Cocktails, Alameda’s newest Italian eatery, is now

open at South Shore Center! Founded by Alameda resi-

dents Chef Giuseppe Naccarelli, a native of Palombaro,

Italy, and his wife, Christine, Trabocco celebrates a com-

mitment to community, quality, and a contemporary view

of classic Italian cuisine, emphasizing locally sourced

and organic ingredients. The menu features stuzzichini

(small bites), authentic thin crust pizza, rustic baked and

roasted delicacies from a wood burning oven, meat and

fish on the rotisserie, and fresh pastas and breads made

in-house daily.

The restaurant is open Sunday through Thursday, 5-10pm

and Friday and Saturday, 5-11pm. In mid-December, Trab-

occo will begin opening for lunch at 11 am and for brunch

on the weekends starting at 9am. For more information,

please visit trabocco.com.

NEW FACES

Life in Alameda got a little tastier and more affordable

this fall with the addition of popular chain Five Guys

Burgers and Fries and clothing outfitter Crazy 8.

Five Guys, famous for it’s decadent selection of burgers,

dogs, sandwiches and fries, helps take the stress out

of holiday shopping with its popular order-ahead-online

takeout service. Simply visit gofiveguys.com/menu/five-

guys-alameda and order your meal ahead, so that it’s

ready to eat or takeaway when you’re finished shopping.

Our other new face, kids’ clothing boutique Crazy 8, of-

fers great clothes at crazy low prices. Operated by The

Gymboree Corporation, at Crazy 8, you’ll find cool kids’

styles available in sizes Newborn to 14, as well as gift

cards—which make great holiday treats for busy parents.

When Michael Phillips, C.O.O. of Jamestown and Vice Chair of the

James Beard Foundation Board of Trustees, announced that he

was planning to write a cookbook, the entire Jamestown Creative & Mar-

keting team clamored with offerings of “research” services. I personally

had to come to terms with the idea of adding yet another manual to a

rapidly expanding collection in a pint sized Manhattan kitchen. The just-

released Chelsea Market Cookbook offers up a feast of archival images

of the market, gorgeous food photography, and entertaining anecdotes

from Chelsea Market chefs and friends whose recipes grace its pages.

Also available this fall is Summerland, iconic Chef Anne Quatrano’s first

cookbook. Named after her family farm and stuffed with more than 100

of her best recipes and entertaining ideas, Summerland makes each

month’s harvest a reason to celebrate. Drop by Westside Provisions

District in Atlanta where Quatrano is sure to be signing copies this fall.

These tastemakers have inspired me to squeeze back into the kitchen and

stock the pantry. Just please keep your fingers crossed that Anne has

shared her recipe for lime cornmeal cookies.

What’s Cooking?Man-about-town George Krauth dishes on the fashions, flavors, designs and décor he discovers as he travels the globe tracking trends in his capacity as VP of Creative and Marketing for Jamestown.

You won’t want to miss the magic of The

Nutcracker this season! On December

21 and 22 at 2pm, the Alameda Civic Ballet

will once again present the holiday classic at

the Kofman Theater, 2200 Central Avenue,

Alameda.

For more information or to purchase tickets,

visit alamedacivicballet.org.

Earlier this year, the Alameda Planning

Board approved new design guidelines

for South Shore Center, enabling us to move

forward with fresh, new façade designs for

several of our storefronts.

Drop by South Shore Center this season to see

the first fruits of our labors. Get a gander of

Loard’s bright, beautiful pink striped awnings,

which make their façade and outdoor eating

areas really pop with retro-ice-cream-parlor

flair.

While you’re visiting, stroll by China Gourmet

and Check Into Cash to take a peek at their

new wood-clad façades. Be sure to follow us

on Instagram @southshorecenter for sneak

peeks of our new looks!
