ABOUT AFSTET

1. The IAF Education & Cultural Society will conduct a centralised eligibility

test, known as the Air Force Schools’ Teachers Eligibility Test (AFSTET), for

candidates interested in applying for academic vacancies in Air Force Schools.

This will be only a test to determine eligibility for an academic post in an Air

Force School and will not guarantee employment. The procedure will be as

follows:-

(a) A two hour objective-type multiple choice written test will be

conducted on 29 June 2014 to ascertain the working knowledge of the

potential candidates in the fields of English, Teaching Psychology, General

Knowledge and Education. This will be a common test for all categories of

teachers.

(b) Pass marks for the written test will be 60%. The result will be

declared category-wise, as per the choice of the candidates. Those who

apply in more than one category will be listed separately across each

category.

(c) Examination centres will be spread across the country at various Air

Force Stations.

(d) All candidates who have passed the written test will then have to

appear for a practical teaching demo, separately for each category applied

for, at the Air Force School so designated by the Society. Pass marks for

the teaching demo will be 75%.

(e) The Society will compile the result category-wise and intimate all the

candidates by email. Copies of the result will be circulated to all Comds HQ

and Air Force Stations.

(f) Passed candidates will be issued with an Eligibility Card, which will

give details of marks secured and other details of the candidate.

(g) The test will be conducted initially every year for a period of five

years and then every alternate year thereafter.

(h) There will be no merit list as this is only to test eligibility for the post

of teacher in Air Force Schools. It will now be upto these candidates who

have been issued with the eligibility cards to ascertain the availability of

vacancies in any Air Force School and apply for the post whenever the

School so advertises the vacancies.
