WHO WE AREAIESEC is an international non-profit organization that provides students cross-cultural internship and volunteer experiences across the globe. The focus of the exchanges is to develop leadership and enabling students to make a positive impact on society. AIESEC was established in 1948, present day the AIESEC network contains over 100.000 members in approximately 125 countries realizing over 24.000 experiences. An AIESEC experience grants you the opportunity to explore an unique environment where you can expand your international network, develop a global mindset and accelerate your personal and professional development.

AIESEC is the largest student–run organization and the second largest non-profit organization in the world. The organization makes use of an online database containing a wide variety of internships and volunteerwork projects. We believe that the secret of our success lies in the full package we offer to students. The moment you sign up to the database at internships.aiesec.org you will be assigned a student coach who will guide you through your whole experience! All the help you need will be provided by AIESEC Leiden as well as the Local AIESEC Committee in the country you choose to go to.

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO

AIESEC was officially founded in 1948 in France, as an initiative to bridge cultural differences between various nations after the catastrophes of World War II. Nowadays we believe that through developing the leadership potential of young people today, we create a positive impact on the future society. Through the international experiences that we offer, future leaders discover their strengths, dreams and goals, and are empowered to fulfill their humandkind potential.

INTERSHIPSOur Global Internship Program offers you the opportunity to gain professional experience in a company or NGO abroad. Spend 6 to 24 months developing yourself personally and professionally and have the experience of a lifetime.

VOLUNTEERINGThrough our Global Community Development Program you will get the chance to spend 6 to 8 weeks volunteering abroad. Go Teach, Be an Entrepreneur or make Aware in a country of your choice. Challenge yourself, discover the world and have an impact.

GLOBAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The Global Community Development Program is a special opportunity for students who want to do a volunteer project for approximately 6 to 8 weeks. Go Teach, Be an Entrepreneur or Make Aware in a country of your choice. This program gives you the opportunity to develop your entrepreneurial- and leadership skills while making a positive impact on the international community. The Global Citizen program provides students the opportunity to volunteer abroad in more than 125 countries. As a student, the program expands your cultural awareness and allows you to see the world in a new light. The cost of this program is €299,-. The fee includes the volunteer project, generally meals and accomodation are provided. For this program 60 ECTS are required. Challenge yourself, discover the world and make an impact!

GLOBAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The Global Internship Program offers students the opportunity to do an internship abroad. Our internship program helps ambitious bright young students to throw themselves into challenging roles with a wide range of companies around the world. The companies in the database differ from small to medium sized firms, multinational corporations and NGO’s. This program provides a great opportunity for motivated and ambitious students to experience an internship abroad and gain cross-cultural experience, both in a professional and a social manner. The main advantage of an AIESEC internship is that you will not only gain professional experience but the internships additionally focus on your personal development and leadership skills. As an AIESEC exchange participant, you will get support by our local AIESEC community, organizing diverse socials and fun activities for you. The cost of this program is € 399,-. All the internships offer a financial compensation, the amount varies depending on the internship. For this program 120 ECTS are required. Spend 6 to 24 months developing yourself!

THE ROAD TO YOUR SUCCESS

The first step of the journey is to sign up at internships.aiesec.org. After you will receive an email with more information and a link to provide your preferences for your dream experience. Once filled in this form you will be contacted for a meeting with your student coach. During this meeting we will discuss your wishes in more detail and give you advice about your opportunities.

In order to get authorization to actually apply for volunteer projects and internships a downpayment is required. Ones authoritized in the database you can also have direct contact with the project managers abroad to ask all the questions you have about the volunteer project or internship.

Now it is time to search the database and discover suitable internships or projects. The database is accessable without any obligations. Do not hesitate to contact your student coach for any questions you have during this phase!

The following road will lead you to your dream destination! The guidance we offer throughout your journey is tailored to your needs; we can ensure that you will get all the help you want. The duration of the road displayed below mostly depends on you. This road can vary from 2 weeks up to 8 months depending on the project and location but most of all your commitment and enthusiasm! Our advice is to start the journey as soon as possible especially if you want to participate in the Global Internship Program.


In this part of the jouney things get more official. When you are accepted and matched to a volunteer program or internship you can arrange all the formalities, book your flight ticket and pay the AIESEC fee.

Now it is up to you to make your time abroad a once of a lifetime experience! The Local AIESEC Committee abroad will pick you up from the airport and guide you through the area. During your volunteer project or internship you can always contact your student coach. Have fun and make it unforgettable!

It is time to prepare yourself for this once in a lifetime experience! You will receive a preparation package from AIESEC Leiden. Adjusting to a foreign country can be challenging that is why AIESEC Leiden and the Local Committee abroad will guanrantee you all the pre-departure support that you need.

The goal of the Nour Project is to bridge the gap between the Western and Arab world by creating mutual understanding between these rich cultures. The Nour Project does this by providing a three folded experience.

Learning programme (March-May)The first part called ‘The learning program’, consists of 10 to 12 workshops in which both cultural and professional trainings are provided. Previous years the workshops were provided by amongst others National Geographic and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The goal of this part of the program is to improve your skills in for example public speaking and expand your knowledge on both a cultural and professional level.

Summer project (May-September)The second part is a 6-8 week summer project in a country in the Middle East or North Africa. You will participate in a voluntary project and mingle within the local culture with the aim to learn more about the culture of the country. During the summer project you will blog, conduct interviews and photograph to share your journey with as many people as possible!

Reintegration programme (September-October)After the summer project the reintegration program starts. The goal of the reintegration is to inspire as much people as possible by sharing your experiences with for example high school students, friends and family. The application deadline will be the 31st of January. The first round consists out of a motivation letter, your CV and a short movie.
