The Pannonian Plain covers the northern third of the

country while the easternmost tip of Serbia extends into theWallachian Plain. The terrain of central part of the country, withthe region of Šumadija at its heart, consists chiefly of hillstraversed by the rivers. Mountains dominate the southern thirdof Serbia. Dinaric Alps stretch in the west and the southwestfollowing the flow of the rivers Drina and Ibar. CarpathianMountains and Balkan Mountains stretch in north–southdirection in the eastern Serbia.The Danube, the second largest European river, passes throughSerbia. It is joined by its biggest tributaries, the Great Morava,Sava and Tisza rivers.

ClimateThe climate of Serbia is under the influence of Eurasian landmass,Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea. With average Januarytemperatures around 0 °C (32 °F), and July temperatures of 22 °C(72 °F), it can be classified into humid subtropical climate. In thenorth, the climate is more continental, with cold winters, and hot,humid summers along with well distributed rainfall patterns. In thesouth, summers and autumns are drier, and winters are relatively cold,with heavy inland snowfall in the mountains.

EnvironmentThere are 377 protected areas of Serbia, encompassing 4,947square kilometers or 6.4% of the country. Those protectedareas include 5 national parks (Đerdap, Tara, Kopaonik, FruškaGora and Šar Mountain), 15 nature parks, 15 "landscapes ofoutstanding features", 61 nature reserves, and 281 naturalmonuments.

Serbia, with a population of around 1.7 million. It islocated at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers.The name Belgrade was mentioned for the first time in 878,and during its long and turbulent history the city has beenoccupied by 40 different armies and rebuilt from its ashes38 times.In 1918, the city became the capital of the Kingdom ofSerbs, Croats and Slovenes, the capital of the Kingdom ofYugoslaviain 1929, and in 1945, the capital of socialist Yugoslavia.In 2006, Belgrade once again became the capital of theindependent state of SerbiaBelgrade Fortress (Beogradska Tvrđava) is the oldestcultural and historical landmark in Belgrade. Also ofinterest to tourists are Skadarlija, the central bohemianquarter; the Residence of Princess Ljubica (Konak KneginjeLjubice); Captain Miša’s Building (Kapetan Mišino Zdanje); theOld Palace and New Palace (Stari Dvor and Novi Dvor); theSerbian National Assembly building and the Cathedral of SaintSava (Hram Svetog Save).

Situated in the heart of Serbia and its Šumadijaregion. According to many things, we can sayfirst in Serbia. It was the first capital of modernSerbian state, established the first secondaryschool in Serbia, Licej, forerunner of the Universityof Belgrade. It also had the first court, the firsttheater, first newspapers, art gallery, museum, library.

is one of the oldest cities in the Balkans and

it is the third largest in Serbia. It is also notable asthe birthplace of Constantine the Great, the firstChristian Roman Emperor and the founder ofConstantinople. The most important cultural andhistorical attractions in Niš are the Mediana – alarge 4th-century Roman estate; Nis Fortress – thebest-preserved Turkish fortress in the central Balkans,built in 1723 and containing the remains of RomanNaissus in its foundations; the Skull Tower (Ćele Kula).

One of the first impressions

the city makes is that it is a city of well-tendedbeauty. Its architecture and spirit have been shapedby many nations. Easy-going and surrounded byfertile lowland, Fruška Mountain and the Danube,the capital city of Vojvodina is a pearl amongstthe Serbian cities. It is also called the ‘SerbianAthens’, the Danube River Gibraltar and is home tosouth-east Europe’s largest music festival EXITwhich has earned a global reputation for itsdiversity and cutting-edge music.

is an annual summer musicfestival in Kragujevac, Serbia.It is staged annually since2011 and lasts three days. Itis held in the historicalplace where the serbianindustry revolution hasstarted in the mid-19thcentury. If you like Rock,Electronica, Electronicdance music, Metal, Hip hop,Punk, Drum and Bass, do notmiss the chance to visit it.

professional tennis player who is

ranked World No. 1 by the

Association of Tennis

Professionals (ATP). He is

considered to be one of the

greatest tennis players of all time.

► GREETINGS – When celebrating birthdays, New Year or other holidays, we kiss the

person on the cheek three times, so don’t be surprised.

► SERBS in general are open and direct. Personal questions showing interest in

stranger’s life, politics, and money are sometimes the basis of conversation in Serbia.

► SERBIAN NEW YEAR, We celebrate holidays under the old (Julian) calendar. This

means that Christmas is celebrated on January 7th. we celebrate New Year's eve twice -regularly on December 31st, and we also celebrate Serbian New Year, January 13th.

► SLAVA - This is the day when each house (family) celebrates its own patron saint. By

tradition, the glory is celebrated in small circle of people, with family and closefriends.

SERBIAN CUISINE is famous because of heavy food. Our

meals are pretty big and very delicious.

Belgrade airport is 15km from the center of Belgrade. One

bus stop is next to Terminal 1 and the other one is in the front of

the Arrivals entrance.
