Excerpts from the MOA signed by PNP and AIDE IN 2010
Dedicated to advancing the cause of
open and distance education system in the
country and to fulfill its advocacy of widen-
ing adult students’ access to higher educa-
tion, the Asian Institute for Distance Educa-
tion (AIDE) entered into a partnership
agreement with the Philippine National Po-
lice (PNP) in 2010.
The partnership was forged to meet
the requirements of Section 23 of R.A. 8551
which requires the upgrading of educational
qualifications of PNP officers and employees
and as required by the Civil Service Com-
mission (CSC). Further, R.A. 9708 provides
that the PNP uniformed personnel
who are undergraduates and with less than
fifteen (15) years in the service should ob-
tain the minimum educational qualification
preferably in law enforcement related
courses within five (5) years, hence, the
and collaboration with AIDE was pursued
to be able to respond to the needed educa-
tional requirement of the PNP personnel.
The commissioning by the PNP of
the services of AIDE comes with it the
recognition that AIDE has a long standing
reputation of providing quality open learn-
ing system and also acknowledging AIDE
as the lone stand alone distance education
provider recognized by the CHED.
