Bullying has always been a normal part of an individual’s childhood. In the past bullying was more of a boy’s game than a girl’s. There are different styles of bullying and it depends on the gender. Boys are known to be physically violent with their peers while girls mentally abuse one another.

The victims of bullying in the past would simply wait until their bruises heal, currently the result of bullying can cause more than just physical damage. There are many factors that can contribute to the determination of bullies and victims of bullies.

• Behavioral psychology has helped explained human behavior and with intense research, several therapists have developed several behavioral techniques to help clients re-adjust their behaviors. Behavior is a response the individual makes according to their environment (Comer, 2010). An environment influences how we behave.

• Behaviorism is observable behavior that is based on the environment we are in.

• Over the years the media has become full of sex and violence. Our television shows are no longer wholesome; they no longer have simple problems that can be solved in less than thirty minutes.

• The lack of parenting has caused children to rely on television to babysit them. All though technology has helped parent prohibit and monitor children what they watch there are still several shows that include violence.

Page 8: Aggressive Behavior Can Be Avoided

• In order to help reduce bullying the school, parents, and guardians need to invest time and money. Creating after school programs that help promote self-esteem and keep children off the streets.

• Becoming more involved in the child’s life can help reduce bullying and help the child have a more stable home and help monitor any unwanted behavior.
