• Reserve some time in your programme for interaction; it takes time to let the participants speak, so take that into account when making the programme. Useful discussions are often stopped because of a lack of time.• Ask an experienced chairman to lead the conversation; asking the right questions is an artform. Ask an experienced chairman who is objective and can make connections between guests’ questions, ideas and remarks.• Use themes instead of statements, because it is difficult to think of statements that clearly divide guests. Themes motivate your guests to name changes, and in this atmosphere, there is a great chance that these ideas wil lead to something new. In a built up atmosphere there is a good chance that new ideas are developed. The guests can then take part in developing a solution.• Make sure it is relevant; delve into the interests of your guests. How do you make the discussion as relevant as possible? Can you think of social interests which you can connect to the event?• Pay attention to your guests; make sure that the atmosphere is pleasant from the start. Make sure guests feel that you appreciate their support and their attendance. The right, personal text on the invitation already influences the willingness of the guests to think along with you.• Develop a useful report; make a document in which you provide the best tips and ideas.

Turn ideas into actions so that guests see that you used their input. This increases guests’ involvement.• Use technology well: voting systems are often used, but asking guests to raise their hands works just as well. Narrow down your questions and think of what you will do with the data beforehand. Using voting systems purposefully works perfectly.• Let your guests prepare 1-to-1. Our modera-tors often let the participants talk to each other 1-to-1, before asking for their input. The guests will, for example, discuss the most important developments in their sector, which will bring about many different discussions. Your input will be thought out better, because everybody has already discussed these topics.

Everything is possible! We did a commercial making contest with the marketing department during our team event. We had to divide ourselves into teams and make a commercial with 8 video cameras in 2 days. The best commercial won an award that night, which was awarded in Barcelona.
