Adworks came to life in 1998 when creative Adam French decided it was time to form a small, energetic design agency built around ideas.
Our background comes from classic graphic design and has evolved over the years to be as much at home in the digital arena.
Design is about solving problems. For us, that starts with business problems. We pride ourselves on working with a diverse range of clients
from sole traders through to global corporations, always delivering the highest level of creativity and design solutions.
We constantly strive to produce great work that makes a difference, work that everyone involved can be truly proud of.
As a result we enjoy a close relationship with all our clients working across all aspects of their marketing communications.

Client: Aon plc
Brief: Pensions Conference 2014
Aon plc is the leading global provider of
risk management services, insurance and
reinsurance brokerage and human capital
consulting. Adworks created the visual
identity and support material for this seven
venue pension conference roadshow.
Each event required bespoke delegate
packs, personalised agendas as well as
merchandising, display materials
and giveaways.

Client: Aon plc
Brief: Protection and Indemnity review
Aon plc is the leading global provider of
risk management services, insurance and
reinsurance brokerage and human capital
consulting. After a successful pitch against
Aon’s roster of agencies, we developed this
financial shipping review document being
set a task of, ‘don’t make it too shippy!’
We thought bollards to that and the solution
proved to fit the client brief perfectly!
Using distinctive imagery, clean typography
and easy to use charts, resulted in a well
received piece of literature.

Client: Carphone Warehouse plc
Brief: Thai Together
Christmas promotion
Carphone Warehouse charged Adworks
with developing this seasonal campaign
solution. The brief was to help design a
campaign with the amalgamation CPW’s
partners rewarding the best performing
store over the Christmas period with a trip
to Thailand. Ignoring the previous approach
of best performing individuals and
concentrating on team work, Adworks
developed ‘Thai Together’. Our solution
utilised illustration as well as well chosen
imagery that resulted in a very successful
festive campaign and one set of staff
enjoying an all expenses trip to the far east!

Client: Purely Payroll
Brief: Purely Global e-magazine
Adworks have recently begun working with
Purely Payroll, a boutique recruitment and
training company to the payroll industry.
They were already running an e-magazine
for the parent company Purely Payroll.
They launched a new arm to their business
Purely Global aimed specifically at the global
payroll industry. We created a simple but
strong identity for the business and followed
this up with our first foray into e-magazine
production. It was extremely well received
and has now becoming a bi-monthly
on-line production.

Client: Prologic
Brief: Annual report
Prologic provide an end to end software
solution to the fashion retail industry
enabling corporations to track every aspect
of their business from raw material through
to production, shipping and retail stock
levels whether they have 2 stores or 200.
We were asked to create an annual report,
which was a straight forward task in itself,
but with a diverse range of clients we
needed to avoid showcasing any client
by brand. Thoughtful imagery and good
typography made this a great fit with the
client’s brief.

Client: Cronin’s
Brief: Consulting Literature
Following the launch of the Cronin’s brand,
Adworks were consulted to create a set of
literature and product sheets for their first
bespoke seminar aimed at Chief Fire officers
throughout the UK. The project entailed
a shortening of the business name whilst
retaining the integrity of the initial identity.
This was followed by a suite of marketing
literature and event support material.

Client: Goddess
Brief: Identity and product literature
Goddess already had great products
but no real identity to speak of.
Their portfolio of products are geared to
the female beauty industry.. We adopted
the symbol of Greek goddesses often found
in ancient pottery to form an eyecatching
and elegant identity. This was followed with
the design and creation of their product
literature using imagery inspired by the
treatment of the featured product.

Client: Aon plc
Brief: Select - Staff benefits programme
Aon plc is the leading global provider of
risk management services, insurance and
reinsurance brokerage and human capital
consulting. We created this ‘cherry picking’
identity to reflect Aon staff being able to pick
and choose certain benefits that suited them
in lieu of pay and holiday etc. Having created
the visual identity, we went on to develop
an intranet site that linked to a financial
calculating portal acting as a ready reckoner
for staff giving instant results based on the
criteria they entered. This has developed
into an ongoing Aon programme.

Aon are well known for being Manchester
United Football Club’s key sponsors.
Aon hold their annual conference at
Old Trafford where all 54 divisions of

Client: Palmers Butchers
Brief: Visual identity and website
Palmers Butchers specialise in catering
to the African Caribbean market.
The company was very old school and in
their own words needed to be dragged
kicking and screaming into the 21st century.
We started with a blank sheet of paper
and convinced the client away from the
stereotypical red and blue pile of sausages
approach. They loved the idea of the clean
approach and as soon as the new identity
was approved, we moved straight onto the
development of their website, which has
since evolved from a browse only site to a
full e-commerce buy online site delivering
an additional £15k in sales every month!

Client: Abidins
Brief: Visual identity and website
Abidins is a new real estate business based

this company and have now produced a
complete website developed in Wordpress
as the client will need to update the site
daily. We also created welcome packs for
tenants and landlords alike.

Client: Virgin mobile
Brief: Internal Comms
Of all the network providers, Virgin are
widely regarded as the most adventurous
or even risqué in their approach to
marketing strategies. They were more
than happy to entertain copy lines such
as ‘Flog a virgin’ or ‘Fancy a virgin’ as part
of the creative solution aimed at driving
Carphone Warehouse sales staff to push
the sales of their tariffs. Here are a selection
of the sales communication pieces we
were asked to create.

Client: Globalnet Telecom
Brief: Visual identity and sales campaign
Globalnet Telecom, a boutique telecoms
provider with big ideas originally approached
us to create their visual identity. Globalnet
wanted to run a campaign to promote
new partnerships with resellers with top
performers being sent all expenses paid to
Dubai. Adworks developed the idea of a
passport which would be stamped based
on sales figures and flight tickets being sent
out as a teaser awareness campaign.
This was also supported by trade magazine
and online advertising.

Brief: Charity Ball invitation and programme
Purely Payroll, a boutique recruitment and
training company to the payroll industry
commissioned Adworks to create an
invitation and programme to promote and
support their first annual ball aimed at

reflected their approach and style.

charities close to the hearts of the client.

Client: Cronin’s
Brief: Fire Service invite
Cronin’s is a business management
consultancy with its specialist area being
the fire service. Having created a visual
identity and basic website, our first task
for this startup business was to develop
an invitation/direct mail piece aimed at
Chief Fire Officers throughout the UK.
With a relatively small market audience,
we designed a fun invitation using large
match boxes overprinted with graphics
resembling the well known cook’s match
box with an internal detailed invite.
The programme was a resounding
success and was indeed the launchpad
to Cronin’s securing their initial clients.

Client: St Albans District Council
Brief: Be part of the solution
awareness campaign
St Albans District Council launched a new
initiative named ‘Be part of the solution’.
The aim was to create awareness to the
city about waste of resources whether it be
a dripping tap or unnecessary car journeys.
We devised a simple graphic style to get
across each of the five key messages.
A delighted client rolled the campaign out
across the city.

Client: Cutty Sark Trust
Brief: Saving a legend
Having secured funding from the Heritage
Lottery of £10m, the Cutty Sark Trust
were requested to raise a similar amount
from the private sector. With HRH Duke of
Edinbugh at the helm, the challenge was on.
In conjunction with their marketing
agency, Adworks designed and developed
the event graphics and support literature for
fund raising events held at Buckingham
Palace. Our brief was to create marketing
materials that illustrated the heritage of the
Cutty Sark and appealed to the hearts and
wallets of those invited to this fund raising
event. The required funds were indeed
raised and the restoration of this beautiful
clipper got underway.

Client: Firetext
Brief: Identity and packaging
Firetext is the patented idea of a client who
devised this ingenious smoke detector that
sends a SMS messages when activated.
Adworks developed the identity and
packaging. With the product retailing at
£75.00, we advised the client it required
packaging that reflected the high price point
and the final choice of packaging was an
embossed steel tin to give a premium quality
finish reflecting strength and safety at the
same time.

Brief: Creations brand and packaging
We were involved from the outset with
the development of their new range of
products aimed at the girls 6-12 year
market. Adworks developed and created
the Creations identity, we then went to
work on the packaging and we were heavily
involved in product development with the
Creations Brand Manager. Crayola Creations
went on to form over 30% of Crayola’s
product portfolio and indeed their turnover.

Client: Crayola
Brief: PRO packaging
After the launch of the Crayola Creations
brand, a requirement was had for a similar
range aimed at boys 6-12 years. We were
briefed to develop the PRO identity
product packaging. The brief was to
create an identity where the look and feel
would appeal to older boys as research
showed the older boys and girls felt the
bright yellow packaging was too young
for them. The tough/industrial look
proved to be the answer and the range
was launched.
