Advising Essentials

TRANSFER CREDITSStudents transferring to Whitworth with an AA or AAS degree approved under the “upside-down” degree option are guaranteed a minimum of 60 semester credits and junior status. A maximum of 64 semester credits (96 quarter credits) is accepted for transfer to Whitworth from a community college. Completion of an AA or AAS is not required to transfer.

TUITIONContinuing studies tuition is discounted approximately 65 percent from Whitworth’s traditional day tuition; therefore, it is competitive with state and online institutions. Tuition includes all books and related fees. As an extra perk, books are included in tuition costs and are delivered to students the first night of class.

AGE REQUIREMENTThe recommended age for admission is 23 and older, though younger students may apply for admission under certain circumstances. (See “Admissions” tab for more details.)

MATH REQUIREMENTThe math requirement can be satisfied at Whitworth with one course. We do not require the Math 90 series.

WHITWORTH’S SCHOOL OF CONTINUING STUDIES

AAS degrees are evaluated on a course-by-course basis and are usually not eligible for the full 60-credit transfer into the management degree programs.

Advise students to take ECON 101 at the community college.

A cohort format creates a learning environment that fosters networking and collaboration.

A majority of the professors teaching in the management programs are practitioners in their fields.

Advise students planning to transfer into a BLS degree to complete SOC 101, PSYCH 101, and an English composition course beyond ENG 101, at the community college.

The bachelor of liberal studies degree has four majors: our newest major, public service administration, along with social services, criminal justice administration, and humanities.
