YOURITINERARY….

Day1:ArriveinManausandtransfertoEcoParkLodge(2nights)YouwillmostlikelyarriveinManaus–thecapitaloftheAmazoninmanyrespects–aroundlunchtime,andwillbecollectedfromtheairport.Fromhere,wewilltransporteveryonetotheEcoParklodge,stoppingforlunch on theway,whichwill be home for the next two nights. On arrival,wewill settle in, unpack thosecameras(thisisboot-campremember!)andbeoutcapturingsomeofthelifethatteemsdirectlyaroundthelodgeandonthetrailsnearby.Day2:MeetingoftheWatersTodaywewillbeseekingsomeofthespectaculargiantwaterliliesthatareabundantinthisarea,andthelifethattheysupport.OuraimwillalwaysbetocapturetheAmazonatitsmostatmospheric,andthatwillmeanearlystartsandadjustingourshootingstyleaseachdayunfolds.Therearesomecompetition-winningimagesthatcanbeobtainedinthisarea,focusingparticularlyoncontextandthepositioningofoursubjectswithintheirenvironment.Therearealsotroopsofmonkeysinthisareathatareveryusedtohumanvisitors,andassuchgiveussomegreatportraitopportunitiesthatwouldn’tbepossibleelsewhere.OvernightatEcoPark.Days3-5:JauNationalParkandAnavilhanas(3nights)Ouraccommodationwillnowshifttobeingwater-basedforthenextthreenightsaswelaunchourselvesintoawhole range of new and exciting photo locations.Wewill cruise to JauNational Park from the EcoPark,stoppingtogiveourselvessomekeyencounterswiththeAmazonianpinkdolphin,whichinthisareaoccupyclear,tea-colouredwaterandprovidebeautifulimagesastheircolourstandsoutsodramatically.Atrueonce-in-a-lifetime set of shots! The wild dolphins here are part of a key conservation project, and as such arehabituatedtohumancontact.Youwillbeabletostandinthewateralso,andshootthemabove/belowwaterastheyinteractwithus.AsweenterJauNP,wewillthenbeswitchingtomoreterrestrialwildlife,withthestaroftheshowbeingtheGoldenBackedUakarimonkey.ThisisoneoftheAmazon’srarestprimates,andishardlyeverphotographed.A selectionof imagesof these is commerciallyveryuseful indeed,andwehaveaccess to three semi-habituated troops in the area. Other primates and opportunities will also presentthemselvestooofcourse,andwewillalsohavethedelightoftheriver-scapesaswecruisegentlyupstream.Day6:FlytoCuiabaandovernight(1night)Wewillhavecruisedthroughthenightto leaveJau,andwillendback inManaus intimetoensurewecanconnectforourflighttoCuiaba(allincluded),andaquicktouch-downinPantanalcountry.Fromhere,wewillmovetooneofthemorewildlife-richlodgesthatisneartothetownforovernight,andmakethemostofthedifferentterrainandopportunitiesitprovides.Day7-8:FlytoAltaFloresta,andontojunglecamp(2nights)Inthemorning,aftersomeearlystartphotosessionswiththe localbirdlife,coatisand,well,whateverelseshowsup!,wewillheadbacktoCuiabaairportforourshortflighttoAltaFloresta(allincluded).FromherewehavearoadtransferdeepintotheheartofHarpyEagleterritory.Thesemagnificentraptorsareamongsttherarestontheplanet,andarefamous–amongstotherthings–forgrabbingmonkeysoutoftrees.Weworkwithanorganizationthathasbeen instrumental in theirconservation,andhasmappedanumberofactivenest sites.Our stay at the camp,whichwill be in air-conditioned tents,will give us access to someof thetowersthathavebeenerectedtogeteye-levelphotographywiththeseapexpredators.Thiswillbeoneofthemain areas of focus for us in the next day and a half, but we will also be looking for other wildlife andopportunitiesaswell.Afterall,wherethepredatorsare…soaretheprey.Thechancesforsomespectacularphotographyhereareincredible.NowhereelseisthispossibleinSouthAmerica.

Days9-11:SWLAmazonLodge(3nights)Leavingthe junglecampbehind,wetransfertoourfinal locationofthisepicAmazonphotoadventure,theSWL lodgewhich is just a coupleofhoursaway. Fromherewewill spend the last3daysofour stayonaprivatetractofland–some26,000hectares–usingthefruitingtreemapstolocateandphotographawidediversityofAmazonianprimates,birds.Thefruitingtreesprovidegreatbehaviouralshotsandwithplentyoftrails forus toexploreby vehicle andon foot, aswell as river-basedopportunitieson the900metrewideJuruenariver,ourremainingmemorycardspacewillrapidlyfill.Atalltimes,we’llbelookingnottojust“grab”images,butshootthesceneinitsentiretyandbuildarealpictureofwildlifeintheAmazon.Day12:DepartAltaFloresta,backtoSaoPauloUnfortunately,alladventuresmustcometoanendatsomepoint,butwithourcamerasutterlywornout(andperhapsourselvestoo!),wewilldragourselvesreluctantlybacktoAltaFlorestaairportandflightsbacktoSauPaulo(included).
