The initial Televista setup is complete!

Working with APX Price Files

The process of updating your APX price file(s) using Televista APX involves 3 easy steps:

1) Export a price file from APX into a csv file. 2) Update the prices on the exported price file using Televista APX. 3) Import the price file back into Advent APX.

2 items to Note: o The Advent APX input/output folder is the network location where

Advent APX exports/imports files from. The example input/output folder in this report is \\vam-apxapps\APX$\exp\.

o All instructions may be scripted & scheduled using the Advent APX or Microsoft Windows Scheduler; however the manual process is shown.

Click the “Connection” tab, then enter your Televista Registration Number & User ID, then

click “Apply”

Note: If you do not have a Registration Number

& User ID contact Telemet Client Services

[Using the APX Import / Export Utility] Select: File > Export > Using Advent Data Format:

On the “Objects” line enter the price file date you need to price with a “pri” extension added as shown below. Click Run. The APX script will enter the current date.pri.

(\\vam-apxapps\APX$\exp\). The price file format should look like the screen shot below:

Note: If the price file does not have the format shown (6 fields, separated by 5 commas, with the security type in the first field and the ticker in the second

field), the next step - using Televista APX - will not work properly. The Price file “Options” button can be used to modify the file format. Refer to Appendix 1 on pages 16 – 17 for more information.

Now the exported price file is ready to be updated by Using Televista APX. -Open Televista APX then click on the “Update Data” tab to get the screen shown below:

Click on the “Select Price File” button to get the screen shown below:

-“Select a File” to choose any price file from any location. The default location can be set in the Price file “Options” button – refer to Appendix 1 on

pages 16 -17. -“Current Day” will update today’s price file -“Previous Day” will update yesterday’s price file

This is the price file options button that can be used

• A schedule to automatically update price files can also be setup to automate the process. Click on the Clock icon to setup a schedule.

o Televista APX must be running during all schedules. There is no “catch-up” schedule if a scheduled item is missed.

After Televista APX updates the price file, the file will now look like this:

Import the file back into APX using the Import/Export Utility again by using the following method: Select: File>Import>Using Advent Data Format

The input folder is \\vam-apxapps\APX$\exp\… (The script enters the current date.pri) – click “Run”

When complete, you will get a message that the import was successful, and you have the option to view a log file. Now prices are populated in APX:

Working with APX Dividend Files The process of updating your APX dividend file is similar to updating the APX price file and utilizes Televista APX with 3 easy steps:

1) Export a security information (sec.inf) file from APX into a .csv file. 2) Televista APX will create a .trn file, which is based on a exported sec.inf

file. 3) Import the .trn file into Advent APX.

2 items to Note: o The Advent APX input/output folder is the network location where

Advent APX exports/imports files from. The example input/output folder in this report is \\vam-apxapps\APX$\exp\.

o All instructions below may be scripted & scheduled using the Advent

APX or Microsoft Windows Scheduler, however the manual process is shown:

[Using the APX Import / Export Utility] Select: File > Export > Using Advent

When the “sec.inf” export file is complete, you will get a message that it was successful, and you have an option to view a log file. The sec.inf file is now saved in your output folder (\\vam-apxapps\APX$\exp\ for this example) and should look like

the screen shot below if opened with Microsoft notepad:

It is best to have the process done daily after all trading activity is finished, so that any new securities bought during the day are included in this file.

*Note: The prior day’s file is always overridden, since the filename is not like price files (i.e. date-sensitive).

Now the exported sec.inf file can be used as the source to update dividends (create a .trn file) by Using Televista APX.
