Windows Phone Statistics Report

This month we look in depth at the device usage in Colombia, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Russia and India.Globally, the Lumia 520 is still the most popular device in use but it’s position at the top looks in jeopardy. The 630 continues to make gains in second place and the 530 has seen a big increase in the last month.Additionally, it looks like the new hit phone is born and India is at the forefront again.

This report is based on data collected from 4,995 Windows Phone apps runningAdDuplex SDK v.2. The raw data analyzed was collected over the day of January 23rd,2015 (UTC time) unless otherwise stated.

We have made every attempt to consolidate different reported phone model namesunder their canonical retail model names, but it is possible that some of the rare modelname variations were not accounted for.

AdDuplex is the largest cross-promotion network for Windows Phone and Windows Store apps empowering developers and publishers to promote their apps for free by helping each other. AdDuplex was established in January 2011 in Vilnius, Lithuania. As of January 2015, more than 9,500 apps actively use AdDuplex to gain more visibility.

The top ten devices are all the same as last month but some positions have changed. The Lumia 530 has jumped from tenth to fifth place and the Lumia 635 has gone from ninth to sixth position.The Lumia 920 and 925 both show small percentage increases which bucks the trend of the other devices here where the older devices have seen a decrease in percentage size while all the newer devices have seen an increase.

No big changes or surprises here.Nokia, Samsung, Huawei and “Other” each see small percentage point growth of 0.09, 0.01, 0.02 and 0.08 respectively.While HTC has seen a small 0.2% percentage point decease.

The Lumia 521 and 520 have lost a small amount this month but the 530 has made a small gain in their place.The HTC 8X makes a return to the top ten this month after taking December out.

We last looked at Colombia in April 2014. Back then the Lumia 520 dominated along with 8 other devices running WP7.Nine months on and the Lumia 520 still makes up more than half of all devices.The Lumia 710 and 505, both WP7 devices, still hold positions in the top ten.

The Lumia 520 continues to hold the top spot but is continuing to lose out to the 630. In the last 2 months the 520 has lost 3.5% while the 630 has gained 7.4% share.The Lumia 710 shows the biggest change, dropping 7.8% since November.

The Lumia 630 has continued to grow and Germany is now the first country where it is now more popular than the 520 and takes the number one position.The Lumia 930 has climbed from the tenth to fifth position.The Lumia 530 enters the top ten this month in sixth place.

Continuing the pattern seen in the rest of the world, the Lumia 520 is still number one although dropping 3.6% in the last two months. In second place the Lumia 630 has gained 4.4%.The Lumia 610 has slipped 2.3% to tenth spot and becomes the last WP 7 device in the top ten.

Russia has the largest “Other” section and it has grown 1.6% since November.The Lumia 630 has grown 4.2% in the last 2 months and looks set to become the most popular device in Russia next month.The Lumia 800 is still the last WP7 hold-out but has dropped 1.9% since November.

The Lumia 535 has gained 5% in the last month to become the second most popular device in use in India.Looks like once again India is at the forefront of the birth of the new hit Lumia.The four other devices that make up the top five have all seen their percentage share decrease in the last month.
