Additional chairmen announced for Spring Meeting symposia Additional chairmen of symposia for the Spring Meet- ing, to be held in Dallas, April 27-30, 1975, have been announced. Lincoln Metcalfe, Armak Co., McCook, Ill., has agreed to chair the "Detection and Determination of Trace Contaminants:of Fats, Oils, and Fatty Acids" Symposium. Winifred Cort, Hoffmann-LaRoche, Nutley, N.J., will be chairwoman of the Symposium on "Anfioxidants: Their Application, Usefulness, and Mechanism in Fat and Oils Systems." In addition, Richard Henry, Spectra-Physics Corp., Santa Clara, Calif., will chair the "High Pressure Liquid Chroma- tography of Lipids and Related Substances" Symposium. Although Orville S. Privett originally was scheduled to be chairman of this symposium, he has resigned. Henry plans to cover the equipment available in a morning session and then applications of high pressure liquid chromatography in an afternoon session. For those with specific questions, there will be three small discussion groups at the close of the symposium. Metcalfe is planning at least a half day program on the topic of trace contaminants, with a longer symposium if sufficient speakers are available. A Symposium on "Metabolism of Triglycerides" also has been planned; however, no chairman has been announced. Those wishing to present papers are reminded that ab- stracts must be submitted to: Thomas H. Smouse, Ander- son Clayton Foods, P.O. Box 63, Richardson, Tex. 75080, by December 1, 1974. Call for Nominations 1975 Honored Student Awards Nominations are solicited and will be accepted until November 15, 1974, for the 1975 AOCS Honored Student Awards. Graduate students at any North American institution of higher learning, in any area of science dealing with fats and lipids, who are doing re- search toward an advanced degree and who are interested in the areas of science and technology fostered by this Society, are eligible. The student must be a registered graduate student at the time of application. To receive the award, he must remain a registered graduate student and must not have received his degree or begun career em- ployment prior to the AOCS meeting he is to attend. Selection of awardees is based upon educational qualifica- tions and performance. The awards provide funds equal to travel costs, plus $75.00 to permit at- tendance at a national meeting of the AOCS. In 1975, these meetings will be held April 27-30 in Dallas and Septem- ber 28-October 2 in Cincinnati. Stu- dents will be awarded travel to the nearer meeting to allow as many awards as possible from the available funds. Nomination forms may be obtained from AOCS Headquarters, 508 S. Sixth St., Champaign, Ill. 61820. Completed nominations should be returned before November 15, 1974, to: James G.
